The towing capacity of an auto
« on: September 08, 2022, 04:12:14 am »
Almost any vehicle can tow some weight if it is hooked up to a load and then operated properly. But how much can they tow safely? How do you know the towing capacity of a particular auto?

I really do not know the towing capacity of an auto. I would consider looking in the Owner Manual or asking the Dealership. I hope that this helps you out.

Asking Google is faster. Typing in: Towing Capacity of make, model, body of your vehicle should give you your answer in seconds.

First of all, if you are going to tow anything, whether it is a small trailer, a camping trailer, or a big fifth wheel, you need to know the towing regulations in your state. When towing, both drivers must act in concert. They must first coordinate the signals they will be giving along the way. I recently went to a car service and they recommended https://towingcap.com/ where there is detailed information on towing a vehicle.

I don't think I would use my car to tow something because I'm sure it puts wear and tear on the transmission.  I can't afford to buy a new transmission.

I would never use my vehicle to tow another vehicle.  Call a towing company, if it's not too pricey.

So does driving it, so maybe you should just leave it in the garage.
