Leg cramps?
« on: March 20, 2022, 01:20:46 pm »
I have found, wait for it, that if I flex my toe upward when a leg cramp starts; it stops it.

I have no idea if it will work for anyone else, but it's worth a shot; right? I love you guys.

I have tried this before and sometimes it works.  If I have a leg cramp that is very painful I try everything I can to try to stop the pain.

You are right, it's worth a try. You are talking about a Charlie Horse, right?

Yup. Sure as shootin':

A charley horse is the common name for a muscle spasm or cramp. Muscle spasms can occur in any muscle in the body, but often happen in the leg. When a muscle is in spasm, it contracts without your control and does not relax. from Medline Plus on May 3, 2021

I had one 2 days ago in my left calf.It hurts like hell and i still feel the effects of it 2 days later, not as severe.

I agree you can position your left foot towards the sky to alleviate the pain as it comes on and im sure i should drink more water too.

Toe pointing sometimes works for me, but not always. I've always found the best thing (if I am able to throw the covers off and stand up quickly enough) is to put as much weight as possible on that foot and stand on tip toes/ball of the foot.

I think both your toe pointing technique and the standing on toes option each seem to stretch out that calf muscle.

Well, my most esteemed friend, I did say flex the foot upward, not point the toe downward. Whatever works for you; do it with my blessing. Or without my blessing if you prefer.
