Thoughts again PLEASE !!

I want to start by how much I love my 8 year old Grandson. Lately we have been face timing one another but he either puts me on pause or turns his phone down to the floor where all I see is darkness or he just wont talk and play his Mario game on his wii system. Once in awhile he will say "Nana" I will say "what" and he will just keep saying Nana Nana Nana UGH. I told my daughter that I cant do it any more and that it is stressing me out. I mean let me watch him play his game and talk to me every so often geez. She said to me "Ma remember the days when we called people and we didnt need to watch anything" I said yes but at least we talked and it is called facetime for a reason now. ANYWAYS, I stopped picking up his calls because of the stress it gives me. Am I in the wrong here? what would YOU do?.....I hope this all makes sense and I said this all right lol....thank you for your thoughts !

Makes sense to me - the only thing i could suggest if you have something you can do while he is playing so you can get stuff done. Otherwise he needs to meet you half way.

alina I have told him that I was doing a survey or playing a game  as well and he will say "no watch me Nana"  ah well I would if you'd let me half the time lol. I tried telling him many times how it bothers me but he keeps doing it. I feel it is like a power struggle for him to get me to answer when he calls. I just cant do it but at the same time I am feeling guilty UGH...thank you alina6

Unfortunately, it seems like the more technology we have, the less we actually converse. Perhaps set some boundaries. Maybe chat with him a bit, but when he goes back to his game, quietly hang up after telling him he's doing a good job. If he complains, explain that you would love to talk to him, but only want to watch him play for 10 minutes.

Eight year olds have the attention span of a gnat.  Keep in touch regularly but keep your conversations short.  Don't stop calling him or taking his calls but stop facetiming. Just tell him you want to spend time with him talking and when he calls he needs to turn off the games.  He doesn't realize it now but one day when you are gone these moments spent communicating and forming a bond he will remember if but you have to keep up the communication.

Tell him any news you have, ask him questions and when he tunes out say I have to go now.
