What advice would you give to a new college student?
« on: October 27, 2009, 08:35:55 pm »
So I was chatting with a friend of mine about our college days and what we wish we'd thought about then.  I wanted to see what your thoughts were.  Now that I have gotten older, I wish I had more of this type advice when I first went to college.

A few pieces of advice I gave:
Step outside of your comfort zone
Get involved
Always ask for help
Build some credit however dont spend it unless you are going to pay it off

What advice would you give a new college student?

I am a college freshman - I found these advises are really helpful! I do try to do such things when I first stepped in college; its working out really well for me right now. I met new people and tried new things.

It is so hard to boost your GPA once you get a low grade or two. Don't underestimate the amount of studying you need to do. Every single point counts. Go to class. Talk to people that you didn't have the opportunity to interact with in your high school or home town. Absorb cultural differences. Don't be afraid to take the occasional risk and step outside your idea of what makes you tick. You aren't invincible, so don't do something you know darned well is stupid and dangerous.
