I keep my basket in the closet in the room. I guess it really depends on how big your bathroom is. Years ago I would keep it in the bathroom. it was a good size bathroom

We kept ours at the end of the upstairs hallway (the bedrooms were upstairs)

We used to have one in the kids bathroom for the kids, but ours has always been in our bedroom.

I would ask your son what is so wrong about a hamper in the bathroom?  ???
We have a very small house with no closets. The bathroom is where we typically get dressed and undressed (makes sense to me because that is where the shower is) - so why wouldn't we put the hamper in there?

Oh, do what YOU want to do. You're the one doing the laundry; right?  :female:

Mine is in my closet.  Just more convenient since my clothes are already in there.

We live in a household of three and we rotate chore responsibilities weekly between dishes, laundry, and general household (vacuuming, dusting, etc.) We have the hamper in the bathroom and our teenage daughter also has an oversized soft sided laundry basket in her room. Often when my wife or I are on laundry we have to remind daughter to not 'hoard' her dirty clothes. I can't tell you how many times the bathroom collected laundry is "caught up" only to then be inundated with dirty teenager clothes which could have been washed with the other sorted (not to be confused with sordid) clothes.

That being the case, I am 100% in favor of the bathroom as the collection spot for dirty clothes.

IF I had a larger house with a full laundry room, I might have a different take on this - but when our washer and dryer are in a small cubby space with very little room for much else (not even a suitable folding or ironing space) - then the bathroom makes the most sense to me.
