Step-parenting is a hard task, especially when the kids are so direspectful. My advise to all is to find someone that has no kids or a minimum of 1. More than that can be a huge hassle. Then, when you eventually have kids, you can enjoy them together with no worries.

sounds like teenagers, my husbands been in my girls life since the were 2 and 3 now there 14 and 15 and they show mad love for each other even though there real dad is also in there life. but if you were brought in later in there life they might not show respect all the time but it has to do with how much manners they have. even real moms and dads have trouble sometimes so maybe in time things will be better.

can't really correct that cause they'll go back to the source
