I don’t know why your comments are in green that’s why I choose to try this.  Let’s just bury any bad feelings and be friends.  Ok? I would really like to

Works for me.  We are talking in other threads and have for years.  Sometimes it is easy to misunderstand a post. I really wasn't being mean or hateful to you. How you say it in your head and how someone else says it in their head is totally different. And then you have the occasional stupid computer glitches where it "fixes" things for you and changes your words. lol

I think we may see more companies doing work from home and we will also see more companies downsizing. Walmart has seen they can get by with being open way less hours.  I have heard they will never go back to 24 hours. Same with the 24 hour customer service answering phones.  They can make you wait weeks for an email response or struggle with automated.  They don't care.  And we, the customer, are at their mercy.

Thanks, works for me too.  I heard that Walmart is seriously considering to stop the 24 hour   opening.  This stupid virus is changing so many things, some things will never go back to the way we knew it and that’s a shame.

I have a friend that is in management.  She has told me a couple things that were "coming" and then it happened.  Like the mask mandate. I knew a couple weeks before they were talking about mandating it in their stores. She said she would be really surprised if it ever went back to 24 hours.  And you are right, so many things have changed and I don't think it will ever go back to the way it was just a few months ago.  The thing about Walmart is we always went by 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning before the crowds got there.  I think Walmart has been pushing for a long time toward more of ordering online. Now that we have the thing where you can order online and then just pick up in the parking lot I hear that is pretty popular in my area. I have never used it.

Surprised google hasn't done this already to be honest. You think the biggest search company who has a boat load of employees would of did this months ago . That  is a long time one year

In general, I love to read news from many sources on any topic and I am especially attracted to news from the business world from https://www.businessupside.com/ and I follow with pleasure.
In this way, I feel that I am gradually developing and finding new things and this is very captivating and opens up new opportunities for me.
I think the more informed you are, the better it is and I have been living with such a principle for a long time so it has become a routine.  What do you think about this?

I heard that from friends working in a number of IT firms, not just Google. I think that's the norm for technology firms, not reporting back to work until July of 2021. I do wonder if other firms might follow the same thing?

I hate the phrase "the new norm" ::)  But I do think there are going to be more jobs that will transition to working from home. And jobs that have done so will stay that way. I don't see it changing back to going "to the office' in 2021. Esp like the customer service jobs.  A lot of those were already working from home. The majority of your Amazon and when you call your credit card customer service - those people are working from home.  It saves the companies a lot of money and from what I have found esp when hiring new people you can pay them less if they are working from home esp in jobs where you don't need a lot of formal education.

I have looked in to a couple of things and I would take less pay if I were working from home.  Most people would esp if they wanted the job.

Medical transcriptionists have worked from home for years. If you're an employee you have certain hours and get bennies just as if you were in the hospital. If you want to be self-employed, you still have some certain hours with leeway, but no bennies.  My local hospital switched to at-home transcriptionists in the '90s because I was the guinea pig to test the program to see if it would work out. I had worked for them in-house but had to leave because of my mom. The program worked and I got to work for them for 9 years as well as my patent and trademark attorney. It allowed me to get a phone-in system so I wouldn't have to run back and forth picking up and delivering tapes to my private clients. I miss those days.  :'(

I have a feeling more companies will continue to follow that trend...WFH is becoming so much more common....and I think a lot of people like it...except for the concerns with the virus...

Don't know what a beenie is. If you are talking about a hat you wear on your head I doubt you would have to wear it at home.  Most people don't even wear pants (according to surveys) when they work from home.   I have read a lot of medial stuff dealing with records is working from home.  I don't think that is a good idea because it is too easy for people to do shady stuff with people's information and medical records esp in their own home.  And don't think your medical information is private.  Not only do hospital staff as well as doctors blab about you but they also post on social media.  They may not always use your name.  I know a woman who works at the hospital and I know she tells her mother and family medical info about patients esp people they all know.

I think it will be more common virus or no virus.  It is cheaper on the company.  They do not have to pay for a huge building and all the expenses that go along with that.  They also do not have to supply people with office supplies and stock restrooms.  I actually have heard people crying about that.  You can get free ink pens and pencils from the bank if you are too cheap to buy a your own pens and pencils.  Both can be found at Walmart or the dollar stores for less than a buck for 10-12.

lol Okay.  I have never heard benefits referred to a "bennies".   Technically working from home would be a benefit.  People are such crybabies though. I read something last night where a lot of people who are working from home are crying because their boss should supply them with TP to use while they are working and office supplies and a comfy chair to sit in. ::)   IF you have a REAL job working from home you can count that on your taxes anyway.  I would think one pack of pens would last you all year esp since most of the job is done on a computer.
