Sending a Fax
« on: July 23, 2020, 05:44:58 pm »
For Your Information (just in case)

This is the second time this month I had to send a fax when nothing else would work. It went to my Medical Insurance person that has been helping me with my recovery and her management will not allow then to receive emails, visit web pages, etc. from patients, so the only way I can send her a message is to type it into an app on my smartphone (UGGG!!). Bottom Line: I typed up the information and printed it as a pdf from WordPad, then used GotFreeFax.com to fax it to her.

I looked at a ton of so called free fax services, but they are only a free trial if you give them your credit card info so they can automatically bill you if you don't cancel in time, No Thanks.

GotFreeFax does charge me 98 cents for up to 10 pages (some charge that per page including the cover page), but after all the traps like that I saw, GotFreeFax went right to the top of my list. I don't need to fax often, but when I do they will be my first click.

My printer is hooked up to my VOIP telephone and it accepts faxes to send or receive for free!  if you have a computer phone like magicJack or other you can probably save some money using it to fax.. only need it a couple of times a year but I don't have to go to the postal stores or use the  printing stores, library etc. to fax!  Saves time too!

To send a fax requires fax hardware, so magic jack needs a fax machine plugged in to send a fax. Some multi-function printers include this, but most do not.
see https://wp.magicjack.com/features/can-i-send-and-receive-faxes-using-magicjack/

So your printer must be one of those that has fax included.

I do not like sending any Fax.
I prefer e-mailing...I think it is more reliable.

Email is not even close to as secure as fax, which is why a lot of business applications prefer it.
