Suggestions on stopping my 16mo old from playin in the toilet!!!

put one of those *bleep* protectors on the bathroom door *bleep* so she cannot open it. i have them on my doors at home so my little one cant get out. now she is 4 and is learning how to get them open anyway but they worked when she was little.

You can also purchase a toilet lock. They sell them at Wal-Mart with all the infant stuff. Its basically a small plastic belt like thing. I used this when both my kids went through the O WE DISCOVERED THE TOILET stage.

keep the door close at all times thats what i do with my 18m old son...he tries the same thing..

Buy a tiolet lock they are cheap but have saved me on many occasions

Be consistent with your approach with her. Do not get angry and hitting a child is unproductive. Talk to her in a mature way as a human being. Baby talk may be okay at times, but consistently, I think it is too much and can lead to poor speech by the child as they emulate what they hear. Have you put a look on the door to keep her out? If so, have a key readily available in a convenient place in case she locks herself in.

I agree with the above poster. Be consistent, do not yell, talk to her normally. I have a two year old and I know what you're going through. Place the protective knobs that only adults can use on the bathroom door (Even me, as an adult, have trouble with it LOL).

i know over at my dads

just for the dogs neways we close the lid

and close the door to the bathrooms

that way they dnt get in

i dunno how big ur 16 month is

and if she cant pick up the lid of a toilet seat

so thats one way and to close the door

I have the same problem with my 14 months old son. Normally this only happens when I forget the bathroom door open. He would then enter the bathroom, lift up the toilet lid and play in the water. He cannot open the door for himself yet but I intend to use the clear grip safety doorknob cover (child proofing). This is excellent for keeping toddlers out from 'off limits' room.

I am personally a fan of the child safety doorknobs that you have to squeeze to grib the handle. Locks the kids out without worrying about locking yourself out. (Or anyone in)
