Do you save your receipts after you buy something? If so, for how long?I still have all of my receipts from May 2016 to now. I think I'm going to toss the older ones.
It depends on what the item is. If it's expensive and I might not like it; of course I'll keep the receipt. It's not a bad plan to just keep all receipts for a while. You never know when you might need them and it's not that hard to just throw them in a basket for a couple of weeks or a month.Did you say you've been keeping receipts from May 2016 to now? To me, that's serious overkill.

I think I'm going to toss the older ones. I keep mine for a year. It helps me keep within a budget to make sure I'm not overspending. I compare the prices every time I go grocery shopping. Prices either shock me or make me happy to see they're lower or the same from month-to-month.
Usually I hold on to receipts for as long as in necessary in the event that I have to return an item. Typically it's about 30 days depending on what I got.Another reason I keep receipts is to reconcile my credit card statements if I use my cards. Again, that is about 30 to 40 days. I don't think I've kept a receipt for more than 4 years though.
