Our daughter got married this afternoon in a short informal ceremony. She was originally supposed to get married in October, but then this corona virus mess hit and tossed a nice sized wrench into their plans! Rather than wait, they decided to move things up and just do something small with all of the social distancing in place.
It was kept secret from the rest of the family. Daughter and son-in-law live in Florida and we are in Ohio. A few months ago they hatched the plan to get married in Florida (the original October wedding was supposed to be here in Ohio). But about a month ago, that plan was changed to do a wedding in Ohio as a late Mother’s Day surprise for my wife. So outside of a couple of our daughter’s friends and myself, mostly everyone else was completely in the dark until the actual ceremony. She streamed it live on Facebook for other friends and family to attend remotely.
We built up a ruse to get mom and little sister to the wedding – the bride and many of her friends all work in food service and many of the local servers and bartenders are currently out of work. Thankfully our daughter is in management and has been able to stay working through all of this. But one of her out of work friends does photography on the side, so our daughter paid for a family portrait photo shoot as a way to help out her friend and for me to get mom and little sister all gussied up and delivered to the wedding none the wiser!
It POURED down rain (was supposed to be an outdoor wedding) and we got pretty soaked even with umbrellas, but it the end, it was a perfect day!
