Why People Don't Social Distancing?

It could be that people flat-out do not care or underestimate the real threat that COVID-19 poses. And this feeling will become more rampant if/when an effective vaccine is developed.

The majority of people who have been polled said they would not take this vaccine.

There are a lot of people who think it is a hoax or not serious, my guess these are people who have never had a serious illness or trama in their lives and don't know how it feels to fight for your life.

I don't want to risk my health, my family's health, or the people who I take care of for my job......2 of the 4 residents use a ventilator as part of their normal living health condition.......very compromised lungs.
 
Getting the Coronavirus personally might be just an inconvenience to me with the virus only making me sick for a day or two.  Or, I could be one of the "healthy, low-risk" souls who the virus hits hard and either it takes me out or I experience long term effects of it that from that point my respiratory system would be compromised for the rest of life. 

I don't like Russian Roulette.   So, I wear a mask when at work and at the store.  I stay 6 feet away.

I'm starting to think I'm the only one still practicing social distancing rules!  When we walk thru our subdivision, kids are playing together again in groups.  There are multiple cars outside people's homes.   Did the rules end and no one told me???

I wish there was more information available - at least that you could believe. Some states are opening, others are restricting more. What we need is a game plan that gets us out of this mess.

I think a lot of people aren't practicing social distancing because they don't know how to be alone or prioritize their health over socializing.

It's possible to distance yourself socially, but it is a team effort.  I have a friend who I wouldn't be surprised if he got the virus because he definitely prioritizes socializing over his health and important things.

Sometimes social distancing is impossible. If you're scared of catching Covid it's best to stay at home and let others go out and live their lives.

I don't know about how but many can't handle it. Not to make light of it but that loneliness is very crippling for many.

My neighborhood kids, elementary school ages, have been playing together out on the street in groups, 7 - 14 of them nightly since the Shelter in Place order, for months, one of the parents runs an aerobic studio in her garage while the gyms are down - cars are always there.  & despite this, there still has been no major outbreaks here in California.

My kids are sheltering however & don't engage, we wear masks -- the only thing you can control is how you & your family deal with it & not worry about the others.  Be Safe.

Because it is all a hoax. It is fear mongering. The virus is real. So is the flu. The scare tactics surrounding it is what is a hoax. But we can see how easy it is for some of the people to be controlled. I am glad to see more people waking up.

And you are right - all you can control is how YOU deal with something.  And not worry about what every one else is doing. That is the big thing. The fearful need to hide in their homes and stop trying to control what the rest of the world does.

It puzzles me too. I agree that everyone should practice social distancing to protect themselves and others around them.

Some people do not want to listen. They need to follow social distancing order no matter what the situation is.  If they don't and people get infected and death rates go up again, then businesses have to close again.
