All drugs have side effect even aspirin has killed people.  I'm not agreeing with Chump at all but it could be helpful in some cases.  You take a chance with any drug you take.  You have to wonder why he was pushing it so hard.  Either him or his associates have a financial stake in the matter.

Tough times for sure. Health information should have been provided by the White House Medical staff but they indicated that it was to early to see any benefit from hydroxychloroquine when the president began his aggressive advocacy. The National Institute of Health, yesterday, indicated that there were more deaths associated with taking the malaria drug than in study groups taking a placebo and went further on to say that there was no benefit in taking the malaria drug. In other news, the president called Georgia's governor last night to support the move to reopen business but is now saying that it is too soon for Georgia to reopen the economy. Colorado, where I live, was to follow suit. It will be interesting to see if both States continue with their plans to reopen at this time. My day time job will keep employees working from home until at least the fifteenth of May.

It can't be too dangerous of a drug, it's the standard treatment for Lyme Disease & pretty much all of Africa takes it for Malaria - & people also take it as a preventative when they travel to Africa.  Probably if you have some particular health issue you might be a rare exception to it being dangerous, but then that applies to all drugs & treatments.

It is malaria, not maleria. Guess you're not a die-hard proofreader. It's nice that you were so elated to post an article that you tell us means the drug does not work. If you read the article, it states the preliminary study was performed in China. Did that sound any warning bells at all to you? President Trump had stated that it was a promising drug that might help with the treatment. He did not promise a cure-all.

It's not flattering to you that you would jump at the chance to bash the president since you probably detest him because of the media you ingest daily. Tell me what drug would you have suggested for this new virus that's infecting the entire world? Do you have a clue? It certainly is a shame that he's working so hard at providing help and you're not on board with it. I suppose he could have done nothing at all. Would that be better?
