Good Friday
« on: April 10, 2020, 05:40:24 pm »
Today we honor Christ's great sacrifice on our behalf, for the forgiveness of our sins.  :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

Isaiah 53 gave the prophecy of Jesus Atoning Work on our behalf in amazing detail, centuries before it all occurred.

Who has believed our message
    and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
    and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
    nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
 He was despised and rejected by mankind,
    a man of suffering, and familiar with pain.
Like one from whom people hide their faces
    he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.

 Surely he took up our pain
    and bore our suffering,
yet we considered him punished by God,
    stricken by him, and afflicted.
But he was pierced for our transgressions,
    he was crushed for our iniquities;
the punishment that brought us peace was on him,
    and by his wounds we are healed.
 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,
    each of us has turned to our own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
    the iniquity of us all.

He was oppressed and afflicted,
    yet he did not open his mouth;
he was led like a lamb to the slaughter,
    and as a sheep before its shearers is silent,
    so he did not open his mouth.
 By oppression and judgment he was taken away.
    Yet who of his generation protested?
For he was cut off from the land of the living;
    for the transgression of my people he was punished.
 He was assigned a grave with the wicked,
    and with the rich in his death,
though he had done no violence,
    nor was any deceit in his mouth.

 Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,
    and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin,
he will see his offspring and prolong his days,
    and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand.
 After he has suffered,
    he will see the light of life and be satisfied;
by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many,
    and he will bear their iniquities.
 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great,
    and he will divide the spoils with the strong,
because he poured out his life unto death,
    and was numbered with the transgressors.
For he bore the sin of many,
    and made intercession for the transgressors.

You said "TODAY"?

Even YOU should know Tues that 4/7 was Passover.Corresponded with Nisan 14 almost 2000 yrs ago.

Actually the 10th corresponds with Jesus resurrection.

No biggie as long as its manmade.Whats in a few days off?

UR such a nitpicker on punctuation and spelling,i would think the EXACT date Jesus got executed would mean something to you.....but sigh,Nisan 14 in 33 CE was on a Friday,so i guess man decided to keep it on that day.

The traditional observance of Good Friday has always been as "Holy Week". Not adhering to dates. So your criticism is well & truly moot.

What you ought to be more concerned over is Christ's death for your sins and Resurrection in the flesh proving His victory.

What u ought to be more concerned about is obeying Jesus command,"keep doing this in rememberance of me"and that corresponded this year on 4/7......not a manmade tradition.

Amazing you miss the irony of posting a Watchtower tract about  "Avoid Unprofitable Questions", when that's what the Watchtower thrives on. lol

The more I read Matt 23 the more I realize how it applies to the JWs. “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law—justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.

Again, your Jesus is not the Christ of the bible. If He were, you would be more concerned with celebrating His return from the grave and not nit-picking over what your cult organization deems 'worthy' of you to observe.

When world governments destroy Babylon the Great and see Jehovahs people are still standing and then try to attack them.......THEN you will know who God is.

Pharoah said,"who is Jehovah i should let his people go."

Tsk tsk as he lies beneath the sea forever....but im sure before he perished he knew who God was and what his name was.

Did Jesus reveal His victory by returning from the grave in His own body on Easter Sunday? Is that worth celebrating? Or do you need a note from the Watchtower for permission?

You're getting your instruction from an end-times cult that preys on people's gullibility. People can believe whatever they want. None of my concern. But how dare you rob the only Son of God of His Divinity after all He suffered and endured for us. Have you no shame?

We've gone over this several times. There are several plausible explanations as to why He wasn't recognised at first (not the least of which, the fact that nobody EXPECTS to see a dead man appear in front of them) This in no way is proof that it was not the same body He died to. The texts make this explicitly clear- particularly when Jesus makes a point of showing His body that was pierced to them.

Russell's laughably bad explanation that Jesus body 'dissolved' in the grave serves no purpose in the world. Why would Jesus conquer the grave to come back in a body His disciples wouldn't recognise? He fancied a supernatural version of hide & seek? It's absurd.

Faith in who, though? The watchtower version of Jesus? That Jesus cannot save you, since you divested Him of His divinity. If He is not God incarnate, He cannot make the sacrifice for the remission of sin.

Blind faith in whatever the Watchtower tells you is your problem.
