Company/Departmental Alert-public service notice
« on: April 08, 2020, 07:26:32 am »
I receive daily alerts, from my day time job, on areas that we should focus on and why transactions may be skewed. Once a month we go to various assisted living facilities which tend to be a focus for predators. As the large percentage of our population is under stay at home orders I thought I would share some of the COVID-19 Fraud trends that we are seeing. Fake charities have been set up; Sham Investment opportunities with fake, high rates of return are being promised; Fake goods are being promised at slightly higher prices (offered on line and never delivered) like toilet paper, masks, and sanitizer; Fake funding for small businesses and/or people wanting to get their relief checks early; Requests for money in order to develop miracle virus cures. Perform due diligence on any entity/person that you are sending money to and avoid sending cash to these entities/people via money transfer businesses like PayPal, Venmo, GreenDot, MoneyGram, RIA, or WesternUnion to name a few.

That's terrible! I think people who set up and work on these kinds of scams and fraud are missing something in their brains. I know if I even contemplated ripping off anyone (especially an elderly per) by these means, I would not be able to sleep at night. But these people kind of just take it in their stride that they are going to get some of your hard-earned money by hook or by crook. Disgusting!  :peace:

If you stay home and never leave your house you do not need a mask. smh Nor do you need sanitizer. But that is all beside the point. I have had a couple of people try to scam me. Not sure if it it related to this virus because scammers are out all the time.  I always keep a close eye on my accounts, track shipments from orders, and do not respond to emails or phone calls saying I am going to jail if I do not give them money.

It amazes me that people have no problem trying to scam some one.  Esp the venerable at times like this.  They won't have a problem with it until they get caught.  Then the tears will fall.

 >:(  Yes the world and it's evil was bad enough and now this situation is I am sure is in many ways making things worse but then I have seen a lot of signs of kindness.  Unfortunately when people don't have what they think they want or need some of them are going to get it from the innocent.  I pray each night for God to protect those who might be deceived.  :rose:

There are so many evil people in the world, it is hard to believe. It boggles my mind how so many are always trying to scam others.
