Any essential workers here?
« on: April 01, 2020, 10:29:30 pm »
I'm essential so I'm still going to work but they cut hours dramatically.  My company offered unpaid leave for this month.  I didn't take it but I wish now that I did.  I'm trying to adjust my schedule even more so I'm there less.  Be safe wear a mask and gloves I know I am.

I work for a construction company that specializes in the petroleum field.  We have been told we were essential in order to keep gas stations up and running.  I'm still working my 65 - 75 hours a week.
Have a wonderful day!

I am retired but one of my two children is considered an essential worker.  She is what you call a Business Banker at a fairly large bank and since the small business loans have been passed, she is getting inundated with people who want info and to file.  She started working 14.5 hours yesterday, all from home for now!  My other daughter works for a large insurer of homes and autos and she is in the IT department.  Her job is not considered essential.  She has been working from home the last two weeks.

I'm retired but I volunteer at a soup kitchen to feed the homeless so I'm essential there and they appreciate everything we do.

I am lucky enough that my company has enough work for now for us to do telework at home.  My husband too.  But my oldest daughter works for a pediatrician's office and is considered essential, the cut the hours to 3 days a week, but it is still risky.

My husband is still working in the office.  He's one of only 3 or 4 not working from home.  He had the option of working at home but, I really didn't want him to.  We'd be under each other's feet and at each other's throats probably.  Much better he work at the office.  Plus, it makes Uber, Lyft and Instacart much easier to do if he's already out.

2 in the immediate family are essential, firefighter and sheriff.  My other daughter does programming for Warner Bros and they have been working from home for about a month..they are going crazy trying to fill programming for all the empty live and sports related shows slots.  So I am essential for child care, in fact the kids have been staying here almost all of the time while the parents are so busy with work.  We just feel like it is safer not to have them going and coming all over.

All you essential workers who are still working are heroes in my book. Thank God for people like you who keep the country running, or at least the basic stuff.

My husband and I work in a 24/7 group home....we care for 2 individuals with TBI (traumatic brain injury) and 2 with respiratory deficiencies....these two have tracheotomies and already use ventilators either part time or full time, depending on which individual.  None of these people can live on their own.  Even their families cannot come into the home right now.

One daughter and boyfriend and one granddaughter work in the grocery stores.....to me they is "on the FRONT LINE" since they are mere feet from multiple customers all day long.

I am but since I work in the office I am able to work from home but my husband works for the same food manufacturer and has to go in each day.  So far no cases there and my daughter is a dietitian at a hospital and has to go in because of all the tube feeding request for the patients on ventilators.

I'm retired so I'm always at home and feel very fortunate that I don't have to go out
