Trying to remain positive
« on: March 28, 2020, 12:09:02 pm »
I am trying to remain positive but feel like gloom and despair are trying to set in......I mean I am typically a positive person and because of my health and mobility issues tend to stay home a lot but for some reason this "never ending" staying at home is getting on my nerves.  I have gone to the store a couple of times but just don't know if I should the longer this goes on.  How are you guys making it?

I, too, am getting down with "staying home."  And we haven't seen the sun for days.  When I get truly bummed, I try to remember Anne Frank and seven other people, hiding from the Nazis in a 450 square-foot attic room for almost two years.  Perspective....

I do understand. I went to the stores 2 times for food and other items and haven't been out since the coronavirus and the pollen. I can't even let my cat on my balcony because he'll only bring the pollen in on his fur and he looks so sad standing by the door. It's getting to me too, this virus stuff. I've been wiping down door knobs, kitchen counters, sink handles, kitchen handles and my son works at Walmart and comes and goes so I have to be extra careful. I really want things back to normal too..it was making me sad but I just listen to music, come here and complete surveys and pray and hope things get better soon.  I'm a homebody but I still would like to feel safe going out and after  while you want to get in your car pay a family member a visit. I hope this ends soon!

Do you have a car where you could just drive around? I have heard some people are doing this just to get out of the house so maybe you could try that. I like staying in and watching TV so this really hasn't been a big change for myself.

Thankfully both my husband and two grown boys (husband working from home and sons doing college distance learning) are here with me, so I"m never, ever alone, LOL! We only go out once a week to get groceries, usually during the early hours on a week day to avoid most other people.  :peace:

I am privileged to live with my family so I'm not lonely and we have been able to find at least a little of most of the food and things we wanted, apart from lysol etc.  I was the world's biggest homebody anyway so socially, the quarantine has barely changed anything for me. Work is a slightly different story though.

I'm glad you are trying to as well.  I've been meditating which helps.

Amen.

God allows the trying times to test Man's character. Will he call out to God his creator? Now's the time.

It's different but find something you like doing.  Pray for others, mediate by taking deep breaths, call someone up and encourage them, go online and find some uplifting videos, limit the amount of news you watch, catch up on old movies, remember some of the good things you did years ago and share it with someone that wants to listen, try a new recipe, read some of the funny jokes on fusion etc.

I think most of us have taken it for granted that we could go where ever we wanted.  It's hard staying locked up in our house when you know you could be elsewhere enjoying myself.
