Need Google Chrome Help
« on: March 20, 2020, 04:45:03 am »
I have a mac but use chrome for sites like Fusion Cash because it works better.

However, my chrome has died. it is in my dock and it is open but I can not do anything with it. I have tried to force quit but cannot. It won't force quit.

I can not move it to trash. I can not do anything on it. I can not even reboot my computer because chrome is open. My computer will not shut down.

I have downloaded and installed chrome 2 so I am using chrome even as I type this.

For all you techies on FC, how do I quite chrome?

I'm no techy for sure and I don't have a Mac, am just wondering if you can just unplug it and plug back in. A hard boot I guess. Then what I would do when it starts back up, is uninstall chrome, and reinstall it. Sounds like a glitch happened or some kind of malware maybe?

I ended up calling Apple Care and they had me do a hard boot. I guess that is what it is called. Well, it did not help and I was told that i had to contact Google. They gave me a phone number.

But lo and behold, the situation is ok, at least for now.

Maybe it was a google problem. Maybe it was my computer. Maybe it was my internet. You never know anymore.

But for now, it is ok.

sounds like a temporary glitch... I'd keep the numbers, info, etc just in case

I have kept the number.  I have had similar problems with chrome in the past. My memory is that I had to go back to the factory settings to correct the situation. For now, all is good.

I have been having problems with safari for months if not longer. I frequently have to force quit. I called Applecare about this some time back. They spent a lot of time with me trying to correct but we could not.

Applecare feels that I need to uninstall my entire system and rebuild. They can help me do it over the phone but it is probably going to take hours. For now, I have decided to live with the problem. My hardware is good but the problem is with the software.

did you go under default programs and try to uninstall that way. I not sure what windows version you use as i use an older os-vista to be exact and I go under default prgms and then uninstall from there. usually you see an icon and then uninstall or repair. try that and see.

Maybe you need to factory restore the mac and then reinstall the apps, it could be a corupt file that is causing it..

Have you tried going to Add and Remove Programs and just uninstalling the Chrome software that is giving you trouble?

Everything is fine now but my memory is that I was not able to uninstall for some reason.
