SuperMoon

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/full-worm-supermoon-will-illuminate-the-sky-this-weekend/ar-BB10TDB3?li=BBnbfcL

March’s moon won’t officially reach its zenith until Monday, March 9, but it will start to have that full-moon look when it rises in the sky Sunday night. This full-moon effect will stretch through Tuesday night.

The first full moon of meteorological spring is known as the Full Worm Moon. And as a bonus for sky-watchers, it will be a supermoon, too, coming amid a season of winter/spring supermoons in 2020.

note:
supermoon is a full moon or a new moon that nearly coincides with perigee—the closest that the Moon comes to the Earth in its elliptic orbit—resulting in a slightly larger-than-usual apparent size of the lunar disk as viewed from Earth. The technical name is a perigee syzygy (of the Earth–Moon–Sun system) or a full (or new) Moon around perigee. The term supermoon is astrological in origin and has no precise astronomical definition.

I want to add:

This full Moon will also be the first of three supermoons in 2020—the other two occurring in April and May.

Thanks so much for this information, calendria! Now I know to look out at the moon tonight! I remember the first time I noticed such a moon when I was a child. I saw the huge orange moon in the distance as we were driving home from somewhere. I thought that it looked mighty and magical, going on and on to my mom about it, LOL!  :peace:

2 more chances, coming in April and May to catch it again!

This full Moon will also be the first of three supermoons in 2020—the other two occurring in April and May.

I was looking forward to it, unfortunately we're overcast and rainy for the next few days... which I also love so I guess I won't complain!

SuperMoon: Is that the one that looks like a gigantic Golden Medallion hanging in the sky?
