Personal Vehicle
« on: February 05, 2020, 09:19:09 am »
What was the longest you ever kept a car and drove it?  When I bought my present 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix in 2010, I never thought I would still be driving it in 2020!  It only had about 10,000 miles on it in 2010 and was in excellent condition.  One owner!  It also has that 3800 engine that car enthusiasts and mechanics all claim is the best engine GM ever made.  I have provided regular maintenance and she is still running strong and looks pretty good. I took collision off about two years ago and it has been paid off for quite awhile now.  I was definitely going to buy a much newer one in 2019 but have decided why mess up a good thing?  Well running, looks decent, no collision, and no car payment!!  I'm thinking maybe another 2-3 years yet!

I had my 2007 Jeep Wrangler up until September when we traded it in for a new one. It had over 235,000 miles on it and still going strong. I LOVED that Jeep and actually cried when I had to say goodbye. But we only have one vehicle, so my husband wanted to trade it in before something major went wrong. I'm a Jeep girl, so I love my 2019 Wrangler too!

I do miss not having a car payment though.

I bought a 1997 Dodge Intrepid in 1998 and held onto it until 2010. I replaced it with a used 2000 Buick LeSabre that I am still driving around today, although I may be replacing that before too long.

I just bought a new vehicle.  I traded in my car which was a 2005 Ford Focus that I bought in 2007.  I purchased a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox.

I don't really go by the year of the car. I go by the miles on it. As long as the car or truck still runs good I will go as high as 300,000 miles. right now I have a 2008 with 139,000 miles so I will be good for a while :)

Yes, you think exactly like my husband and I do! We've had each of our cars at least 10 years, both before we were married and since then. We had a Chevy Cavalier that ran for 13 years before it just stopped being reliable. That's probably the longest we kept a car. And we hope the  cars we have now will run for years to come, because it's just not worth the trade-in values to keep getting a new car every four years, like some people do. But to each his/her/their own!  :peace:

My very favorite car was my Pontiac Firebird that I had about 30 years ago.  I had it for over 10 years but traded it in for a front wheel drive car which were just coming out.  I loved the car but it was terrible in snow.

My current car that was bought in 2016. I bought that new and all of my previous vehicles were used and didn't last long.

I had my previous Ram 1500 pickup for 12 years.  Finally traded her in on a new Ram 1500 in 2015.

I have a 2014 Altima and thinking about getting a suv.  I had a car so mom could travel easily but I'm ready to go back up in the air now that she has passed and while I can still get up there.

I had my recent Escalade for about 5 years before giving it to my sister, I think that's the longest.

I'm an advocate for not having a car payment too  :highfive:  Even if it means driving something older.

We still have a 1998 Dodge pickup truck that we use for short trips especially when hauling large items.  My husband refuses to give it up along with his 2002 Chevy Malibu.  I only drive our 2014 Buick Enclave because I am always scared of breaking down in the older cars.
