Steak N' Shake

Are you familiar with this restaurant?  I loved it growing up. The food and the server's skated up to your car however the server's don't skate up to your car and the food isn't as good.  But I still go there trying to regain my youthful experience I guess LOL

My sons and I used to go there after school to get a snack. Sometimes we'd get shakes and sometimes we'd get steakburgers. It all came to a screaming halt, though, when they stopped serving the guacamole burger. That was the only burger that we really liked. Also, my kids graduated high school and started college a few years ago, so we don't go by it every day like we used to. Best shakes, though!

I ate there growing up too. It brings back old memories. I have since eaten there, but not like I use to. It is just like any other Fast Food Restaurant now.

Yes. Since moving to Georgia, I have learned about this restaurant very well. Prior to moving here, I hadn't a clue that it was a restaurant, and would have confused it with the Shake N Bake cooking product.

Never had it prior to adulthood. They opened one in town between 15-20 years ago, and I actually went there on my first date with my wife; so it holds a special place for me for that reason alone.


But lately our local store has had awful service. Long waits for tables, even longer waits for food, and three of the past four times we've gone, they got our order wrong.  The most recent time was just going through the drive thru for milkshakes. It took over 20 minutes; drive thru employee was rude; and then she gave us two peanut butter shakes and one chocolate shake (the order was three chocolate shakes - so pretty difficult to mess up).  It's been about 9 months since we've been there and I really don't see us going back anytime soon. Which is a real shame because I enjoy the food (when they get it right).

Is that the same indoor restaurant we see here now ?  I didn't realize it use to be an outdoor place.

I have never heard of Steak N'Shake restaurants. Are they only in one particular part of the country or are they a nationwide franchise?

I love the commercials with the two older men ( I think they're actually young guys playing the part of old men ). 

They're sitting at a booth in the restaurant talking about their 'good ol' days'.  I haven't seen the commercials in a long time.  I did see a report last week about restaurants that are having problems and may be closing in 2020.  Steak N' Shake was on the list.

I don't know how real or how fake this report is.  I'm just saying that this is what I read.

Think just certain areas...we got one...not impressed...rather do Arbys

I've never heard of this restaurant but I did a online search and realized that there is one located about a hour away from me.  I'll have to check it out the next time I'm in Waco!

i always loved this place but they just closed our local one because it had gotten to bad there --i really miss it and wish they had gotten their act together to stay open

I have heard of it but I never ate there. I don't eat out very much but maybe some day I will.
