I heard on the news that someone had this in their house as well and they heard a voice talking to them. apparently it was hacked and when they called ring about it, they said it was not on their end and nothing can be done by them.

This has happened several times. I don't know why you would put it in your bedroom anyway.  Most times it is when people do not change the password or use something like 1234 and that is easy to figure out.  I thought about getting one but if it is online it can be accessed and THEY most likely keep the videos forever no matter what they say.  I would like to have cameras that are only accessible by me and viewable in my home and recorded to a decide inside my home.  It would be nice to be able to see it on my phone other places.  And it would be nice to be able to talk to someone who came to the door from my phone and not have to get up and go to the door to tell them I am not interested nor am I opening the door. haha  Like I said before it is rare for strangers to come to the door.  Delivery people don't knock they just leave the package.  Friends or family I know they are coming.  Religious or sales people I am not talking to.  I can only remember twice a random stranger came to the door.

I got one last year and it works pretty good.  I don't like getting the neighborhood alerts all the time and it's no way I can turn off those notifications.  Once the mailman put a package inside my screen door (dumb) and I called the neighbor to take it out but the door was sprung before she could get to the house.  It's another way of having proof is something happens.   I glance at them each night and then delete them.  I pay $30 a year.

See I would not want to be connected to my entire neighborhood.  What happens at my house is none of my neighbor's business. I would think surely you could disable the notifications. Some people are super physco and if any tiny thing happens they are hiding under the bed with a gun in their hand. Not everyone in the world is bad.  It is sad that you cannot even walk up to a house and ask for help without the home owner threatening to kill you or auto thinking you have to have ill intentions.  No I would not just open the door and let strangers in my home but if I had this I would not be sending out notifications for the whole area to be on the look out because someone came to the door.

I would really like to purchase the Ring Device.  Criminal People have made it a necessity to be safe in your home or even outside of it on your property.

I can’t have one of these since I live in an apartment complex where I rent an apartment. It sounds like a good idea, but I’m not sure of how effective something like this would be. It seems like just another device that’s out there to infringe upon people’s privacy and spy on you.

What difference would it make that you rent? You should still be able to have this on your door.  It is not infringing on your privacy.  You make the choice to install the device.  Nobody is spying on you.  If you are too stupid to change the password and to put it looking at your bed then you deserve what you get.  And unless you are posting crap all over social media to get the attention of a predator  I doubt anybody would ever even know you had it.

I don't have a Ring, but would definitely like one.  I think they are great and are getting 5 stars from a lot of people.

You can have a wireless one for your peephole in your door and you check activity on your cell phone.  Some of the notifications have proved helpful, pets were found, others saw the stolen cars and reported it, etc,  but all that I heard gunshots and it may be fireworks is just wasting time and sending alerts for nothing.  Everything has its good side and bad side.

See that is even more stupid.  I knocked a light bulb off a shelf at Walmart and some idiot woman starts screaming and running like an idiot.  Stuff like that can get people hurt.  And has got people hurt.  Surely there is a way to turn off the notifications. No, I would not want that at all.  I thought that is what facebook was for. lol
I sent a pic of a dog that showed up at my house to a woman who lives below me and she IMMEDIATELY puts it on facebook.  That did not need to happen.  And actually her actions caused the dog to be stolen.  Because somebody thought it was a cute dog and came and got it (not from me) and it was not her dog.  It did however belong to someone up behind me who did get the dog back a few days later when she found out who had it.
