New Year and Off to Bad Start

Wow - that's just terrible. If I were you, I would cancel my debit card altogether and just use a credit card for a while. I would not want to go through that a third time.

I am so sorry this happened to you - I really detest dishonest people.  That happened to my son a couple of years back but lucky for him he didn't have any money in the account but they certainly kept trying.

Oooh, I'm so sorry that happened to you.  What a horrible why to start your new year. Why do some people have to be so dishonest and evil? I'm so glad the bank caught it as soon as they did but  unfortunately you still have to go through the hassle of getting everything fixed.

Wow that is not good. I also get notifications on my phone when I make a transaction or a large deposit or withdraw. I also check my credit report all the  time for unusual activity. You can do through a paid company but this one is just as good for free

I have signed up for several monitoring services in hopes of catching these types of things early. So far I have been lucky with only a few phony charges. Good luck.

That is so annoying! had it happen about two years ago, the bank caught it and called me right away. I now have alerts placed on all my account to try and monitor better at leas my bank can now print your new ATM card right at a branch; so no need to wait for arrival in snail mail; but it is still annoying when others try and mess with your account.

My son has his stolen $497 for shoes and $675 for a phone in Greece.  The bank refunded the money while they investigated but now the international charges have to be taken care of.  It's really a hassle.  I have never had a problem like that but seeing what he went thru is something.

OMG! That's horrible!  What a hassle, too. I hope the rest of the year goes better for you.  I have never had a debit card. I usually never had any extra cash to use one. Anyway, it would've been too easy to spend any extra money I would've had.     About 20 years ago, I bought a new box spring and mattress from QVC that cost $1000. The credit card company called me before they processed the payment to make sure it was me and not a thief because I never made a purchase that expensive.

That is a bummer. My card was taken last summer.  I got a call from my bank to see if I was buying gas at 3 different stations in 3 different states.  Everything was handled within abut 36 hours.  Hope the rest of the year goes better.

some idiots got my debit card for   1500 bucks a few years back.   guess they were trying to go on vacation with it.  took the bank 3 months to take care  of it.  I don't use that debit card any more.  I always use my credit card to buy anything with. if anyone tries to use it over a certain limit,,,  I receive a TXT right away and it is stopped !!
