so i have heard from numerous people that it is bad luck to take your tree down before the New Year .I always leave it up regardless but my question is how does everyone else feel about this.or is it something only people here in southern maryland say

Never heard of it.  My mother says they used to leave decorations and lights up until the 1st to burn out the year.  Never heard it being bad luck.

Is it worse then stepping on a crack and breaking your moms back?

Or not walking under a ladder?

Or having a black cat walk by you?

Or breaking a mirror and getting 7 yrs bad luck?

Do you not find it ironic that an occasion that is supposedly meant to honor Jesus becomes a time to deceive children?

If you are not superstitious, then don't pay attention to silly superstitions. It's a dead tree, for Pete's sake.

Home with grand kids would be a blessing to some.I have seen situations where some grandmas were overjoyed to finally be a part of their life.

Nothing superstitious about that.Focus on a blessing it is.

The xmas tree stuff is nonsense. The deception of the kids makes all the sense in the world when u associate Jesus BD with Santa as 1 example.

I always keep my tree up at least until New Year's ,but I never knew there was a superstition associated with it.You can keep your tree up or take it down whenever you want and it won't affect your luck one way or the other.

I used to leave my tree up until after the 7th of January. My ex father-in-law's ancestry was Ukrainian and I did it out of respect for him for that was when they celebrated Christmas. Now I don't even put up a tree at all.

Sounds like you had 'bad luck' for not taking your tree down before New Year's...
