Stem Cells

Anybody on here that has personal experience or knows someone who has been treated with stem cells? I have a friend with serious osteoarthritis throughout his body including his knees.  I have another distant acquaintance who has the same condition in his knees and was injected with stem cells.  It was very expensive but supposedly it helped quite a bit for the last 6-7 years. If you know anything about this, please comment and tell me what you know.  It would be appreciated!
