A doctor is a very important person in our healthcare routine. If they're not showing themselves worthy of being in your corner change them for heaven sake.

Change them?  You can't change them.  They have to change themselves.  Most do not see an issue with the way they act.  If you mean change doctors that is not always possible either.  Depends on the type of doctor it is. And the other options are not always a lot better.

I meant change to another doctor. Of course we can't change their personality or manners.

I don't think I would have had a jerk doctor do the second eye    there are plenty of others out there that do this procedure

lol Okay.  Well sometimes people think they can "change" another person.  But still you can't always change doctors.  If you are lucky enough to have ins there are a lot of issues with what doctors accept.  Then if it is a specialist there may not be but one or two in your area.

There is a GP in my town (and we are kind of limited in this area) and he is a major jerk.  I have seen him in the past.  But he tends to laugh at people, make fun of them behind their back, etc.  He walked out of a patient's room at the hospital and he was walking down the hall shaking his head, laughing and doing his finger around his ear like people do when they are saying the person is crazy.  I did not witness this but my cousin who worked at the hospital did. To me this is totally unacceptable.  And no every one is not seeking pills.

Not always.  You people who keep saying this must live in a huge metro area.  I would also be very careful about who I let operate on my eyes.  That is very important.  There may be other options but that doesn't mean they are worth anything.  It is actually really sad.  I mean we are talking about people's lives.  Like I said before it is not like forgetting to leave the pickle off my cheese burger.  Yes, I can take it off and I can complain but I will live.  Half way doing your job and not caring when you deal with people's lives is different.  But anymore it just gets written off as oh well I made a mistake and they go on.  :(  I hate anytime I hear when someone has a legit complaint of a doctor being mean to them.  Now, I can see some of them getting irritated with the pill heads who are clearly not sick but there in the ER every week and come in saying oh I am allergic to Tylenol I need (and name some really strong pain killer). smh

My mother went to the ER and the doctor-on-call informed us that she was in kidney failure. Then proceeded to lecture her on how people don't take of themselves and eat the right diet.  She was 92 years old with 92-year-old kidneys.  What a jerk!  And why don't I ever have my baseball bat when I need it.

I don't have any health issues as of now, thank goodness but I do go to the dentist a couple of times a year.  Again, I don't have any issues there either, I'm just going for routine cleanings and check ups.

I have no cavities, no gum disease or anything like that.  I just had a very comprehensive exam with x-rays done a few months ago.  My prior x-rays were several years old so it was time to see what, if anything, was going on inside.  Everything is fine.

However, since the medical profession is what it is and they seem to think that they know what has to be done ( even when it was already done ) I simply cancelled my appointment because it was unnecessary.

This doesn't have anything to do with a bad bedside manner but right now it's the closest thing I have experienced in the recent past that I could share.

lol about the baseball bat.  I would have reported that.  Or would have considered it.  There was a couple that were real jerks to a family member but she did not want to start anything because she might have to see that person again.  They know they can get away with it.  Or they think they can.  Seems to be more and more that go in with a cell phone recording the convo so they have proof of things said to them.  Not a bad idea.  If I am sick I don't need some jerk wad lecturing me about how it is MY fault I am sick.

I have only seen one doctor who was a jerk.  My regular doctor was not in that day and I had been sick all week-end running a fever and staying in bed so I had to see the jerk.  I told him what I thought was wrong and he told me it couldn't be that because you didn't run a fever.  It ended up I was right and he had to eat crow.

Some doctors have horrible bedside manners, but are excellent doctors, so sometimes you just have to weigh things out.

Good luck with your eyes.  It s too bad the surgeon was a jerk.  Someone like that shouldn't' be in medicine.

Wow ok both eyes have had cataract surgeries done and I am so glad.  I am not sure the second one came out as good but I hope and pray I find out different on the 26th when my regular eye doc checks me out.  I do know one thing I am glad this is it - my surgeon was a massive jerk.  Well will leave it at that but he was a jerk in booth surgeries and I am glad it is over and done with and I can move forward (move forward lol and see where I am going hahaha)

I had a doc like that. His idea of hospital visit is "Hi. How are you feeling? Okay. good. See you tomorrow." and charged $150 for that 30 seconds. He was really friendly unless you asked questions. Then he'd blow his top. He was so proud of my surgery because the incision was only 3" but he said it took so long because all my intestines were adhesed together and he had to cut them apart. I've been having trouble ever since! He acted as if he was so good, there was no reason to ask questions. That was during my last appointment  and when I came out of the exam, my husband said some guy stormed out of there right before me and yelled that the doc was an idiot and he would never come back. I told my family doc that if I ever need surgery again, I don't give a d*** how good this doc is, I refuse to go to him.  We now have a brand new hospital just opened and a lot more surgeons to choose from so.....
