Looking for a place to live.
« on: October 15, 2019, 05:45:08 pm »
God, I hate moving.  Have to move because house was sold. My daughter's father sold the house.  We were never married. Got 30 day notice.  Got on several waiting lists.  So, looks like I'll be homeless if I don't find something by the 28th of this month.  Looking for senior living.  Will probably be sleeping and living out of my car.

What area are you in? There should be a ministry or a church maybe they can help you find housing in your area hopefully I will keep you in my prayers

Cbsteffen:   Why this man sold the house?
Men usually sell a house for only one reason:
They are hungry...very hungry for what?
The answer is simple: They are hungry for "money".

Santa 7:     Buy a house in "your name".
                        Buy title insurance.
                        Then, there is no problem:
Who is the owner of the house?
                        You are protected!
                        Happy house hunting/buying!

^Why does ancmetro assume that only men sell houses for money and that money was the motivation in this case? I'm not saying that it isn't, but without more information from santa7 -how do we know?

@santa7, is there a friend, neighbor, or family member you could move in with temporarily while you look into other options? That would surely beat living in your car.

Why are you condemning this man?  It is his house.  Maybe he doesn't want to pay taxes and upkeep on a house that he is not living in.  Sounds like she was living in it for free.  He has no obligation to provide a woman he use to have a relationship with a place to live.  I don't know about any where else but there are tons of places to rent in the area I live in.  Yes, rent is high and some of the places are not the highest class but it is shelter.  We also have a motel that people rent by the week/month that is relatively cheap.  But you get a room, cable tv, free internet, and somebody to clean up after you and wash your sheets, and free soap and toiletries.

When somebody says something like this I always wonder why NO family will allow them to stay with them for a while.  Where is the daughter?  Will she not allow her to stay with her for a while?

This is about too foolish to even respond to.  Buying a house is not that easy.  You can't just go buy a house.  Not sure what TITLE INSURANCE is.  If you are paying on a house you have to have insurance.  You do not get the title until you have paid the mortgage off.

The OP has stated in the past she is older and she doesnt work so I doubt she just has the money to go buy a house.  As for who is the owner of the house - obviously the man who is selling it.  The man she has had a relationship with.

Because people are judgmental.  People hear one side of a story and jump the bandwagon and trash the other person and when you find out the whole story you see there was a lot more to it.  He is the owner of the home and he doesn't owe anyone any explanations as to why he is selling it.  Even if it IS just because he needs the money it is nothing to her or anyone else.  IT IS HIS HOUSE!

A lot of times people cry oh I will be homeless and I will be living in my car to get sympathy.  This person still has internet.  I am guessing also still has other extras.  If I were fixing to not have any where to live I would cut off all the extras.  But that is just me.

also, put your belongigns in publix storage if you can affors it as well or leave them with a relative. I got a 90 day noitce but moved to a relative and could not get my own apartment in that time. Had to put stuff in public storgae and pay mthly. Luckily, I work but moving is a hardship.

I'm selling my house and am on a waiting list for an apartment.  I have lived in my house for 21 years and I too hate moving.  You collect so much stuff and then you have to downsize.  I was told that it would be the end of the year before an apartment would be available so in the meantime I have rented a storage unit and living at my daughter's house.

My situation was asked landlord for repairs to leaking roof. He came to look saw a bunch of empty coke bottles in some trash bags which I cash at the local supermarket for money. He tells me it is trash and I told him its not. Later that day i asked him to reconsider as it is illegal in MA to evict someone requesting repairs. Then he shoots a text saying he wants his daughter to take my unit. I researched that and you cannot win in court over that. Most a judge could do is give you more time to move out or if in bad mood he or she can order eviction. I had no choice but to move. But landlord doing this is shady. You cant even trust them.
