Child Beauty Pageants

What do you think about parents who put their small daughters into child beauty pageants? Do you do it, or will you ever do it? Have you been to one? Do you watch or have seen 'Toddlers and Tiaras' on the TLC channel?

I have mixed feelings on this. being in something like tht can build confidence, and social skills, but at the same time, I don't think it's right to have young children compete against one another.

It's disgusting. These girls end up REALLY messed up later in life. I've seen lots and lots of evidence to show this. It doesn't give them self-confidence, it makes them think they need to be perfect and wear ridiculous makeup, get plastic surgeries, and be very thin in order to be "pretty."

Child beauty pageants are mostly parents living thru their child no matter the price that is suffered via the child.  The parent is trying to accomplish something that they never had the talent or looks for which is really sad.

I agree!! My oldest daughter was in one pageant, that she asked to be in. And when it was all said and done with, her words were its rigged mom. And she has never been nor asked to be in one again. I will let my kids try things but I would never ever force them into doing anything.

As long as the child wants to be in one I think it is fine but what I don't agree with is all the makeup that they wear.
In my opinion True Beauty is a Natural Beauty.

I agree, if my kid really wanted to do it that's alright. I don't think I would necessarily like it though. That show "Toddlers and Tiara's" is a little creepy. And by that I mean the parents.
