Bananas
« on: October 10, 2019, 06:46:44 pm »
I know bananas are important to our diet, potassium but one day I ate a banana and got sick! I think it was just too rich but I never ate another one since. When I was younger my grandma used to put them in my cereal and I hated it so I hda to train myself as an adult to eat them and now I don't like them anymore. Makes sense?  :( :angry7:

Understand completely, but it's been a while so why not try giving them another shot?

Yeah. When things eventually taste bad to us, we feel grossed out by them. Whatever grosses us out doesn't bring on pleasure.

I understand. You have to "untrain" your brain to think all bananas are bad!

The only way that I like Bananas is when we make Homemade Banana Pudding. Sometimes, I make myself eat one just for the Nutrition, but I do not want to.

I like bananas.  I don't like them too much after they get real ripe.  I like mine on the firm side.  I love to eat bananas with peanut butter.
Have a wonderful day!

Yes, I totally understand.  Bananas can only be appealing for so long.  LOL  A peal ( peel )   :silly:

Oh, I think you get it.  Anyway, I love bananas but if they are too ripe they can cause discomfort.  And of course if you had a bad experience with them earlier in life, it can be a hard thing  to warm up to.

I'm sure you can find potassium elsewhere.

I eat them about every day to every other day and try to get the tiniest ones possible.  If I can get only large ones then I cut them in half.  I think the thing to remember is other foods have potassium also and I think that can cause a problemif you eat too much potassium rich food in one day because I think that may have happened to me before.

How do you keep the exposed end from turning brown and nasty? I tried folding the peel back over it, but it doesn't always work.

I just cut that part off. It's such a small piece. But if you want to try something that might work, put a piece of saran wrap directly on the end so no oxygen can get to it.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that you don't like bananas anymore! They are one of my absolute favorite fruits! I like them plain. I like them in cereal. I love banana pudding and bananas foster. I even like banana popsicles!! The only problem with bananas is they're pretty high in carbs, so I've got to be kind of choosy about if I want to eat one or not.  :peace:

I bet it wasn't the banana's fault you got sick. I have had that happen with lots of foods where I happened to eat it right before getting unrelatedly ill, and then the flavor reminds me of that. Maybe in time you will be ready to give it another try!
