Moving gets harder as we get on in years.  But after you do downsize, you will feel better and possibly not even miss all you had to get rid of.

Moving can be a stressful situation. when I moved I couldn't believe the stuff I had accumulated.

I imagine this is quite a stressful time, I'm sorry you're at an uncomfortable period in your life.

Daughter's father sold the house and I have to move now.  I have 30 days but kind of stressful as I've lived here 22 years.  Accumulated so much stuff and getting rid of it all is stressing.  Can't wait till it's all over.  At 69, I don't really look forward to moving.

If possible, shift your perspective to view this as an opportunity for renewal, purging, and cleansing.  Hope this helps.

A yard sale is an excellent idea.

Perhaps having a yard sale might help to at least help you get rid of some things you really don't need or want, moving is always stressful even when we can plan for it and not on a time table; hopefully things will work out and you will be able to get it done and settled into a new place; then take a nice rest! Good Luck.

Donate stuff to a thrift store.  All the best with your move.  Have a good weekend.

Mrsmere:You really have a massive job on your hands.  We never realize how much we have until we get ready to move.

You are so right and I love gardening.  i planted all these fruit trees and flowers and stuff.  Oh Gosh.  Going to have to leave them all behind.

So sorry, 22 years is a long time to stay and then have to leave. I have lived in my house for 24 years, I can't imagine having to move.

I sold my home after my husband passed away and had lived there nearly 50 years and moved closer to my son and his family   getting rid of stuff was a nightmare but well worth it   just do one room at a time and I did have a very large yard sale and it was very profitable   good luck

Not able to have a yard sale without a permit.  Think it's about 25 or 30 dollars.  They only give you two yard sale signs with a chip in them.  With all the stuff I have accumulated,  and short of time to move out, i am giving stuff away and throwing stuff out.  Purging a lot.  So tired.  Not a spring chicken anymore.  Almost 70 years old.  Had a child late in life.  Yoy!  I'm beat.  She needs my help with everything on top of all of this.

Trying to get into Senior housing and the waiting lists are so long.  Can't wait till this is all over and I have my own place.

When we moved had to pack hundreds of my husband's books wow that was tough.  Good to get rid of some things before you pack up. Would not like to move again for like ever. You never know though.

That doesn't sound fun especially since you lived there for decades. Good luck!
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I am really feeling for you - moving is the pits. Moved the last time two years ago and got rid of so much of my deceased mom and deceased husband's stuff - yes it is totally stressful and I am hoping that it will go smoothly and quickly for you and that you find somewhere you absolutely love and will be very happy there (and maybe not have to move again)
