Does it bother you that there are websites out there that collect your personal information like addresses and phone numbers without your permission? I think it should be illegal.

I agree. I think it should be illegal. But the tech lobby is powerful and I don't believe the politicians will address this issue anytime soon.

How can they collect your personal info like address and ph number without you knowing.  You have to give it to them.  I got an alert on my computer that said my bank account info had been sent from my computer to somewhere and to call this number to fix it.  I got out of it and done the scans and all and ignored the message.  my computer does not have my bank account info to send out. lol

It should be illegal and it is very easy to do.  They can get your information by getting into another person's computer who is friends with you.  They can get it from government, retailers, banks.  I have worked for several years as an IT specialist and have been hacked 2 times and I know I have more firewalls and protection than most people.  It should be illegal but the computer wizards are always a few steps ahead of everyone else.

It is illegal but nothing is ever done.  Look at all the big banks, credit cards, and what was it Equifax that have been hacked and our info compromised.

Yes, it bothers me as well very much. Sometimes, I will cancel out of those sites because I refuse to put my information out there.

They can't really collect info like this unless you give it in some form or fashion but if you do give it they can techically sell the info to advertisers legally even though that should be illegal but then again you are the one giving the info in the first place which kills that privacy right right there. Now if they state they will not give out the info that is illegal

Well mine too but I have not given my phone number on these surveys so that is not where they come from.
I get the same crap everyone else gets like the IRS calls, the federal student loan calls, and other non-sense.

I have to agree with Alaskah.  There is very little I can do to keep my info very private so I just don't worry about it anymore. Bad people can do bad things no matter how cautious I am.

The phone rings all the time here, We do not answer if it does not show a name.  If they leave a message we call back.

i too dont like all the scam callslike the irs etc or my computer is infected.
