Books
« on: August 07, 2019, 07:59:43 pm »
I admit that I am not much of a reader.  Every now and then I come across a book that I just can't put down.  I usually read about gardening or plants.  I find those very interesting.  Now I am reading an auto biography. This person telling his story with such casual humor.  I am just in awe of what he has managed to do with his circumstances.  And he was in plenty of questionable circumstances.

Are you an avid reader?  What types of books do you like and can you tell me about them?

I used to enjoy reading, but now it feels like a chore for me. However, when I enjoyed reading, I read a lot of fiction books.

I love to read but I couldn't force myself to read a textbook that someone else (a teacher) would demand that I read.  Those days are over.

I enjoy non-fiction and I love to learn but I'm spontaneous about it.  I went through a phase where I was reading about anti-oxidants.  Then I spent time reading about the stock market.

Now I'm reading about the metaphysical properties of gemstones and minerals.  Now I want to invest in certain stones.

When it comes to reading I always follow my heart.
Have a great day!

I like to read but I don't do it as often as I'd like. I also don't think I'm very good at reading because a lot of times I have to re-read something to make sure I understood it clearly.

I love to read and read almost every day.  Right now I'm into reading about the Amish.

I like to read very much and do read just about every night before bed. I prefer reading to watching dumb TV shows. I am a member of a book club which enhances my reading quite a bit. It is really fun to discuss books I read with other people and get their perspective on the book too.

It has to be pretty good to keep me reading. I read sometimes.  Digital and physical both.  I recently read something I got at the Dollar Tree that was a decent book.  Until the last page.  The ending was a huge surprise.  And I was like REALLY??? lol

I like to read but I don't do it as often as I'd like. I also don't think I'm very good at reading because a lot of times I have to re-read something to make sure I understood it clearly.

I am an avid reader. I love learning things. I enjoy autobiographies and biographies in general. I like fiction as well. There is hardly a book I didn't like. I even tried reading Gulag Archipelago but didn't quite make it through that. I did glean some tidbits as to what it means to be a survivor from labor camps in the Soviet Union. Intriguing, but what a bear to read! I also considered reading Aristotle's Nicomathean Ethics but opted for an online forum regarding it. Still pretty heavy stuff.  :BangHead:

I have to say that my latest favorite book was The Martian. I like reading a book before I see the movie and even after I've seen the movie. When I read Seabiscuit, it was a fount of information about jockeys that I had never known. The Godfather was a great book and a great movie as well.

Wish I had a dime for every book I've ever read. I might be independently wealthy by now.  :glasses-nerdy:

And Yukichan 77, I wouldn't worry about having to go back and read something again for clarification. I've done that endlessly. Concentration is not my strong point.  :confused1:

I don't understand book clubs.  Well the one I signed with isn't what I thought it would be. So I don't participate.  Could you explain how they are supposed to work?
