Hungry for something sweet
« on: July 01, 2019, 11:23:50 am »
I am trying to eat better because I have diabetes 2 and I love sweets and it is hard for me to resist.  I have gone days without anything but fruit but what I really want is pie or cake or ice cream.  Do you have a sweet tooth?

They say you are either sweet or salty, and I am definitely sweet.  Like you, I sometimes am at home and I will get such a hankering for something sweet.  It is very difficult to resist.  It is better if I just don't buy it at the grocery and have it in the house.  If something I really like is in the house, game over!

Maybe you can eat something like a vanilla wafer to satisfy that craving.  It's not pie or cake but a tad of sweetness.  I gave up really sweet treat and only eat maybe a sliver once in awhile.  In the summer months, I want that ice cream.

I am sorry to hear you have diabetes 2. I hope you will be well. I have an incurable sweet tooth and often have had cravings for ice cream, snack cakes and candy bars. I have to be careful and am forcing myself to go on another diet because I have gained a lot of weight back that I need to lose. In the past on my diet i would go weeks without even looking at a sweet. I am going to try and control myself better this time.

i do have a sweet tooth. this time of year i love ice  cream- i had some last night!. i too am a diabetic. i put raspberries in my yogurt. that helps. raspberries have fiber and not much sugar which fill you up and lower your sugar level. :rainbow: :peace:

I like sweet stuff.  I have found that when I try to eat less of it I do better if I cut it out completely and stay away from it.  It is like an addiction.  Once I eat it then I want more of it.  When I cut it out and stay away from it I do not seem to miss it all that much.

I don't know how severe your illness is, but when my dad had diabetes I made him desserts like apple pie with Golden Delicious apples that don't require extra sweetener and other desserts with Nutrasweet. He loved it :in-love: and it didn't seem to affect his diabetes that severely at the time.

I don't really have a compulsion for sweets but I like chocolate a lot. So I would say I do not have a "sweet tooth."  I'm more of a "chocoholic." :angel11:

I have a bad problem with ice cream at night.  I try to have a very small bowl of it.  I just should not buy it at all LOL  but then I would just find something else to eat at night :(

I like eating Pie and Cake sometimes as long as it is home made. I don't like eating anything like that if it is from the store.

I love sweets. I gave up my oreo cookies quite some time ago. I also started eating fruits instead of cookies and candy. I still miss my oreos but plan to stay focused on eating healthy. I would like to say it gets easier but it does not.

I definitely have a sweet tooth! I have been trying to eat healthier myself so I've been trying to avoid purchasing candy. My goal is to buy fruits and eat them at least 1-2 times a day when I get sugar cravings.

Also, my little brother is a Type 1 diabetic.  I think it should be OK to eat pie, cake, etc. every once in a while if you eat a serving and/or in moderation. :)

I love sweets. I eat a lot of ice cream and frozen yogurt. But I stay focused on what I'm eating.

I finally gave in to temptation on the 4th.  I had a half cup of mint chocolate chip ice cream. Of course, I wanted to eat the whole carton, but exercised all of the self-restraint I had.

I really do not have a sweet tooth but my husband is horrible and also has diabetes.  I hate taking him grocery shopping because he always tries to sneak something in the cart and then we end up fighting about it.  I would rather not have it is in the house then you are less tempted.
