I found a kitten stuck behind a Walmart Soda vending machine. I couldn't keep it bc I've already have 2 broke senior cats with costly hospital bills. I took her to the animal hospital but they wouldn't take her bc they only take injured animals. They told me to talk it to the animal shelter. The animal shelter was way out of the way so I decided to take her to a pet/animal clinic near my home. I place cat kitty food, food I bought to treat my old cat's once in a while. She started eating it hungerly while distract I jumped into the car & drove off. I was already attacted to the kitten already. I hope the people that worked there took her in. I just couldn't afford to take in another pet.
Thanks, for all the support as well as the criticism. I did a drive bye the next working day, the can of kitty food was gone, so I'm assuming someone found the kitten with the kitty food. I've scanned my neighborhood for sighting of a kitten running loose. I haven't seen sight of her/him. So, I'm hopeful. I called my mom for advice during this distressing episode & she told me to get rid of the kitty. After the deed was done, I sent her a photo of the Kitty & she gushed about how cute the kitty was! I was pissed at her response after she stressed how I need to get rid of it. Anyway, had I had the choice to keep her, I would've named her Vender. Hope you made it to safety Vender Kitten!
Just an FYI for the future....
A lot of animal shelters have cameras on their gates and can see when people do this. And no matter the reason it is considered abandoning and in my state carries the same punishment as child endangerment. It happens a lot. People just set them out when the shelter is closed.
I understand you can't take in another animal. I don't know what I would do if one showed up at my home. If I saw one like you did I would leave it there unless it was 100 degrees and the cat was going to die. Somebody will find it and take it that can keep it. Or that is what I would tell myself.
