Help, I want to switch from Verizon, too expensive ......

We had Verizon and decided to go with Sprint because they offered a better deal.  Worse mistake because service is terrible in our area with Sprint.  Half the time you didn't have service at all.  We went back to Verizon.

My husband and I have Verizon. Our bill together is $114 but 35 of that is payment towards his device. We have unlimited talk and text and share 4gb of data.

I just switched to Google Fi.  I'm still using my old cell phone plan with Virgin Mobile and comparing the two.  I have a prepaid.  With Virgin Mobile I pay $35 a month for unlimited talk and text and 5 gigs of data.  The only problem I have with that is I don't get coverage everywhere.  Which usually is not a problem but since I do travel a lot for my job and just in general it can be a real pain in the *bleep* sometimes.  Its rare but when it happens it's a pain.

With Google Fi I pay $20 for unlimited talk and text and $10 for every gig.  Data is free after 6 gigs and your bill will not be over $80.  I get nationwide and international coverage for no extra cost.  If you use wifi you'd only pay $20+ tax.

Hi, FC member's I'm so tired of feeding Verizon every month, for services barely given. I don't think it's fair paying $100 + dollars a month for a basic cell phone plan. Does anyone have any suggestions in finding a good, legit, cell phone company with a legit affordable plan. Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I felt this way and switched away from Verizon for a few years... and ultimately came crawling back. Yeah, they're pricey but they're also the best. The "amazing deals" I found with other companies aren't so amazing when your phone doesn't actually work half the time.

$100 is wacko though. What are you getting?? I have a prepaid $30 a month plan with them that I'm satisfied with, that has unlimited calling and texting and a little data in case I need it.

Wow! I wish you had posted this last week because I cleverly switched to Verizon and they charged me almost $800 for two phones (of course they couldn't use our perfectly good phones) and a hot spot. We couldn't get the hot spot to work so we brought it back and they only refunded money for the hot spot and not the "whatever they do to supposedly get it in service (can't think of the word right now)". So now I still owe over $500 for two pretty basic smartphones and mine (It's a Motorola) drives me crazy. I can't do anything with it and I'm afraid to take it back to the Verizon store.  It's being manned by what look to be teenagers (could be wrong, but I don't think so).

So now since we just got AT&T internet, I wish I had just gotten their phone service even though the customer service was always horrific before. Keep us posted in case you actually find a phone company that will actually treat you right. I may see if what goodbuddy suggested (Ting) is available where I live. He is always on top of things.

I have never personally had Verizon for a cell phone carrier but I am extremely familiar with them and their large bills.  I used to work for a call center that handled Verizon and wow so many upset folks over their bills.  Personally it is just me so I use Straight Talk and have for years.

That seems very high, I would say do some research based on what you want from a particular plan and what you need it to do and of course your budget! there seems to be  many options out there; I am a long time AT & T user but I get a discount based on my former employer ; been retired  now for almost ten years.  It works for me, but may not for another person. I also use it when I travel out of the country with no problems; so just look around and find something not so hard on your budget.

I have Virgin Mobile and manage to get along with it fine. I only have to pay $35.00 monthly on average.

We use Consumer Cellular family plan. Since I don't use my phone, ihey charge $10 a month. They charge hubby $40()?). All i know is the bill runs around $45 a month BUT we have no text or data. I did have it on my flip phone but had it removed. Hubby just bought a smart phone but he only has the basics on it. When I had text and data, I had the minimum (forget what it was) at $5 a month. Never had a problem with calls dropping, or anything like that. Before CC, we had Nextel, who merged with Sprint. It was expensive.  We needed the talk (like walkie-walkie) feature because he was working 50 miles away and because his bosses needed to contact him when needed for emergencies when at home and back and forth when on the job. Never had a problem with calls dropping or anything either . They were good.
