Help, I want to switch from Verizon, too expensive ......
« on: June 10, 2019, 08:16:04 pm »
Hi, FC member's I'm so tired of feeding Verizon every month, for services barely given. I don't think it's fair paying $100 + dollars a month for a basic cell phone plan. Does anyone have any suggestions in finding a good, legit, cell phone company with a legit affordable plan. Please, any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have been with Sprint for 20 years and I am on a grandfathered plan which I am pleased with. When I see commercials on TV I do believe that you can get a Sprint plan for less than what you are paying.

I switch from Verizon to AT&T a few years back and I love it.  But the best thing is for you to research your fees based on your usage and what you need best for your phone, there are many options out there.

I love Verizon prepaid. Two lines for $75/mo. It was $40/mo before I added my husband's line. Unlimited talk/text, 5gb data. I've never used all 5gb, and whatever you don't use rolls over one month.

I'm not sure why people sign up for postpaid contracts. What are the benefits of postpaid over prepaid?

I guess what I have is post paid.  I guess it is up to you and what you want.  With prepaid you have to be sure you go get the card and enter the minutes for the next month.  I get a bill every month on the same day and it is for the same amount.  Unless I happen to go over on data which as you said, I have never ever done.

I have a friend that has straight talk and he is prepaid but he has his set up to auto debit out of his checking account.  So he doesn't have to do anything.  So I guess it is basically the same.  Maybe a personal preference.  I would rather pay after I have received the service....  Kind of like with cable and other stuff like that.

Yep, I use autopay too. They just take it from my account, same day and same amount every month.

Sprint always drop your calls all the time!

Tmobile - some area can't get services!

Love Verizon best cell service! Best of all service is a large range. Lot of Sprint/tmobile/ATT&T users had switch back to Verizon!

So basically for us it is the same.  No real difference except you pay before for the next month and I pay after for the previous month.  There are no perks or advantages to either that I know of.

What doesn't work?  The phone?  Or Ibotta?  I use Ibotta and have never had any issues.  Have you tried using it on you tablet?  Long as it has a camera you can do it on either.

I have been with AT&T for 20 years and they have been excellent. I am on a single plan and don't pay anywhere near that for both cell & DirecTV Now (streaming service). It was actually more expensive to put my daughter on my plan, so I have her on an AT&T prepaid plan. With autopay I think it's $31 a month? That includes unlimited minutes/texting and 1GB of data (it's technically unlimited data, but speeds supposedly slow after using 1GB). No complaints with the prepay - and honestly, she was able to get a better deal on a phone with that too. iPhone 6 I think for $200, rather than having to finance with the "monthly" plans. I have traveled literally all over the country and have had no issues getting coverage, even in the middle of nowhere.

I have been using Ting for a few years now and have no intention of ever changing. They use T-Mobile (or Sprint) towers so the service is the same, but I only pay for what I use after I use it and the rates are fantastic. With both my wife and I, our bill runs about $30 a month. Plus if I send them a referral that uses it, they pay us each $25.

I dumped Verizon here a couple of months ago. When we first went  with them they had opened up a store here, promised  to build more towers and that they were working on them right now.  (first lie) and then they moved out of the  store after 6 months. Then I ask for a senior discount  said sure (nope another lie)  Third time I called them and ask for customer service about my pin number sure they will  give it too me. But I would have to drive  120 miles to a store which they said was at  Walmart But nope not there. Found a a store there. Went in for them to  give a new one. Nope  can't  do it.  ( another  lie)  one of the clerks  helped us get a new one.  Now I am on  Consumer. Cheaper and better range.
