How much do you tip your hair stylist?

I usually do 20% and wouldn't do more because that can add up with the costs of the services but sometimes I have done 15% - what do you think it appropriate?

I usually tip 20%.

I tip 10-15 percent depending on what I have done and what they are already charging for the service.  I got a haircut once from a beautician who charged me $50 (I didn't inquire what the price was because I already knew several beauticians at the salon who charged $35) so I gave this guy $5. The haircut was no better than the $35 ones and I thought that he already overcharged! If I can tell a beautician goes out of their way, I'm getting a more complex service, and the beautician is not already charging a ridiculous amount, I have tipped 20 percent.

It depends on what I am having done, but since my stylist is very good ; I tend to tip on the high side also tip the person who washes my hair since it's not always the stylist. After all, that's what they do for a living for most it;s their full time job.

20%. I have an amazing hair stylist who helped fix my bad haircut I got for an inept hairstylist a few months ago. Very grateful I found her last month.

I try to tip everyone who does a service for me about 20%.

I will give more for great service and less for mediocre service.

And they get paid to do their full time job.  I need to start charging everyone I interact with in the course of my job a "tip" for doing the job I am already paid to do. lol

I have noticed every where you go these days they have a TIP jar sitting by the register.  I even had one place ask me if they could keep my change for a tip.  Uh NO you cannot!  Pretty sure I contacted corporate on that one.

I do not go to a hair stylist so this is a non-issue for me.  I would have thought what ever the charge was for the service was the total charge. I figure $50 for 30 minutes is pretty good without having to get a tip on top of that.

depending on what I have her do,,,  anywhere from 2 to 5 bucks.  I have shorter hair so I'm not there for 2 hours LOL
