Being single

When you are single, it seems like everyone else has a significant other. When I was in a relationship, I never really notice other couples.

I know what you mean.  I was single until I was 38.  It took me a long while to get used to being with another person all the time.  I managed.  But I never feel alone when I'm alone.

I have been divorced since 2002.  When I date it just justifies my decision to stay single.

i am single. i would like to find someone to go to functions with like summer weddings. i hate going to things like that by myself

I know how you feel, OP. Granted, when I was single, it was one of the best periods of my life because I did not have to deal with the potential drama of dealing with another person's baggage. However, at the same time, as I grew older, I was more aware of the number of couples around me. I suppose it was the equivalent of the biological clock where I was feeling that "social pressure" of finding a companion.

I'm married. It seems to me there are a lot more single people than everyone thinks. I don't really notice couples, unless they are cute elderly couples holding hands. 

I just realized I've never been single.

I'm single and I'm in my mid-'30s. It sometimes sucks, but I'm fine. If I settle with someone someday, then that's fine. I trust that the universe has someone for me. It feels dang lonely sometimes, though.

I feel this 100%. I always felt alone during my time by myself (duh  ) until I got into a relationship. But now even if I am home by myself, it doesn't feel as lonely. It's almost like feeling of being "whole".

I don't rely on him though; he doesn't make me me. It's just nice to have that companion and a best friend for literally everything.

I feel the same as you although it has been a while since I went on a date.  I am older, am okay with being solitary, and have been that way for a significant portion of my life (I was divorced in my mid-40s; second marriage). I did have a fairly long term relationship after this period but did not marry him.  I guess I really didn't want to. When I think about all the accommodations I would have to make to live with someone now, I am unsure I have any interest.

I have been divorced for several years now and pretty set in my ways.  I don't know if I could live with a man now because I don't have to share my TV.

     It really does not bother me as long as people are happy.
Single or married-It does not matter.
