Definitely a valid complaint. I just today had a survey that immediately asked for name, address, phone, & email... even before I knew what the survey was about. I X'd out of it immediately as well. I totally agree that if a survey is not going to be anonymous -- ie no direct name, address, phone it should state first thing if one would want to continue. I get to okay continuing on with surveys that require Web Camera access & LinkedIn access surveys, seems it would be only fair & ethical of all surveys to ask first in the beginning.
You do know the surveys are NOT anonymous right? They, the people behind the survey, already have your name and address. They get it from the panel. If you do not believe me send a support ticket.
I done a survey a long time ago and it asked a bunch of questions and basically the point was to prove (LOL) white people are bigots. And something at the end upset me and I do not remember what. But I got the feeling the survey was not legit what it said it was. I submitted a support ticket and ask if the people behind the survey knew who we were.
The reply, which was snarly ...
"Of course they know who you are. If you are not comfortable taking surveys then don't take them"
I was a little shocked by the reply from support. First from the tone and snotty answer. And also by the fact that they know exactly who I am and my contact info. I truly thought the surveys were anonymous. I have noticed like a couple years ago I took a survey on car insurance and State Farm was mentioned in the survey and then all of a sudden I am getting solicitations via snail mail from every State Farm office within a 3 county radius.
