Has anyone had to get the swine-flu shot?

I haven't even gotten my regular flu shot yet and I think that they rushed this h1n1 vaccine through the fda rather quickly don't you think? I'm kind of afraid to get it I think I'll stick with the regular old flu shot myself. Also the best information on any illness is the CDC website and I believe that they might have information on vaccines and their side effects, etc.

Anyways in my area the regular flu and pneumonia shots run anywhere from $25 to $40 depending on where you go and if you have insurance it could be cheaper than that.

My mom was thinking about getting it since she tends to get pneumonia whenever she gets a cold and is therefore high-risk, but she decided the possible side effects were too great. But then she got what was probably swine flu anyway, so...

Nope, I don't even know if they are out yet, I know these school kids are getting it, It is just sad that it is taking so long, it is kind of worrisome.

I heard that the regular flu shot this year was probably enough to guard against the swine flu, too.  I guess we'll see what they say....  I'm still not 100% for it, either.  I got my first flu shot ever last year and I was sick all season long.  This year I got one again and I've been really healthy despite being exposed to all sorts of stuff in the office.  I'm just half and half on this whole flu shot thing!  I guess my motto has always been if it's not broke, don't fix it.  And there's no guarantee that the flu shot is going to work for whatever strains are out there this year anyway.  There's definitely pros and cons on this type of thing.

I always get a flu shot and haven't had one yet this year, am going to make an appointment to get one next week. As far as the swine flu shot, I heard that you have to fit into cetain categories to get one as of now, since there aren't enough for everyone. I honestly think I had swine flu back in March of this year, me and my son both. If it wasn't swine flue then I don't know what it was, we both ended up in the ER the middle of the night because we were having so much trouble breathing and both ended up with asthma because of it, took about a month or so to get over it and were both using nebulizers for that month. Anyway not sure if I would or could get a swine flu shot but looking back, I hope that is what we had because we would have some immunity to it now.

No one in my family has had it. When I took my daughter to her 18 month check up I asked about it and he said that he was not going to recommend the H1N1 vaccine, but definitely the regular flu shot because the H1N1 vaccine is brand new, government issued, quickly developed, and there hasn't been enough thorough testing. We went with just the regular flu shot.

my pediatrician recommended me not to give it to my daughter and she said just be carefull of crowded places and she said she doesn't trust this vaccine and my daughter is lucky because she doesn't go to daycares so it should be a little bit more safe for her

I think I am more afraid of the shot!  Two of my children have just recently had the swine flu and made it through okay THANKFULLY.
Wash your hands, cover your mouth, stay at home if you are sick, use hand sanitizer...Common sense, really.

i am sorta scared to get the h1n1 shot. there is 2 many ppl getting sick off it anyways
