Muffins

Looking for some ideas of something cool and different to put in muffins for young kids.  Thought about the nerds candy but not sure how that will work.

Hmmm.  Have you tried this?  They would like that.  I never even thought of those.  Thanks!

Pop rocks sound really fun, but due to the moisture of the batter/baking I bet they would dissolve long before the muffins were ready to eat. Maybe they could be sprinkled on the top to avoid getting too wet ahead of time?

Sorry I cannot help you out with this. I rarely ever bake and if I do I follow the box instructions. If they have any added items as suggestions I may or may not try them.  I am not very creative when it comes to baking.

That does sound like fun, maybe instead of putting them in the batter, sprinkling some on top of frosting?

Yeah I would probably need to do a trial run because I didn't know how that would work.  Something on Pinterest suggested cutting a hold in the muffin and filling with pop rocks the putting the top back on.

haha It may not always turn out the way I want but I am experimental.  The nerds may get soggy too.  Idk how either would work. But the pop rocks just sounds fun.

I think pop rocks or nerds would be most excellent lol for kids amusement and enjoyment but you might have to experiment a couple of times to get either one right.

I love chocolate chips and am pretty sure that would be a favorite of many children.

I guess it's not that cool and different but it tastes Grrrreat!

Only thing is then I have to eat them lol.  I know the one kid loves nerds.  I am not sure how they would hold up consistency wise though. SO I would have to do it before I done it for them.

That is good too.  I could get all funky and put all three of these in the same muffin. lol  Heck, they are kids.  They would probably eat it.

I agree with the others. Pop Rocks sound fun! As you said though, you would probably have to do a trial run.

Actually I think that nerds would work. It would add some fun color only because the crunch of the candy would be gone in the baking process. We put nerds in pancakes at the summer camp I attend as a kid.

Other idea. See what your grocery store offers in baking chips. Mine has salted caramel, cinnamon, butterscotch, mint chocolate, peppermint and peanut butter chips. Maybe your kids would like one of those.

There are some great ideas on here. Pop rocks are the most unique but I don't think they would work well. I think York Peppermint pattie pieces would be great.

I don't know.  Some of them are pretty picky.  They are not MY kids.  So I am not sure what they will all eat.  I am going to do the nerds for sure.  If it worked in pancakes it should work in muffins.  I don't care so much about the crunch as the taste.
