Sherlock is fine for a rat name, but if he showed up in my house I'd just call him "Ewww!"

If you had ti put something like this as a post, you must be really bored and have nothing better to say than ask for a name for a pet RAT, now that's a triple EEEWWW.

But I'm trying to remember... my best friend in high school had two pet rats when she lived with me, but I don't remember their names...

Although I would not care for a rat as a pet, I have heard they are actually good pets.  Here are some positive comments about rats as pets.

Rats are very social animals and tend to thrive with other animals. Keeping pairs or groups same sex is ideal, and males usually get along fine with other males. Not sure if you’ve named him yet or not but I like the name Herman I had a groundhog name Herman once he died I just like that name
