How can I stay awake?
« on: April 13, 2019, 09:28:16 am »
For the past 2 weeks, I'm falling asleep around 11 in the morning for a cat nap even though I sleep all night long. This drives me nuts. I'll be on the computer when this happens.  I'm also falling asleep in the afternoon while trying to read the paper and that "nap" can last as long as a couple hours. I'm disgusted because I don't get a lot done when I fall into this pattern and I don't know what causes it.  This isn't the first time this has happened. It seems to happen every few months. Can I be that bored???  ???

Any suggestions?

Put tabasco sauce in your eye...we used to do that on guard duty in the Army so you won't get in trouble if you fall asleep... ;)

Maybe you need more exercise? I feel more sleepy the more I sit around, like binging Netflix. Got to get up and move around a lot, keep the blood flowing and metabolism kicking.

I also think  a little exercise of and on might help. I don't know about the tabasco in the eyes.

Reduce your sugar intake and don't do a heavy meal in the am, as said do some exercise too, take breaks in between as well.

There are some excellent energy medicine exercises that can help wake you up when you are sleepy.  Check into Donna Eden's daily energy routine.  It's fascinating how well your body functions if you can get all your energy meridians moving in the right direction.

No but I am going to be looking at the replies to this post because all I basically do is sleep.  I think mine is loneliness, boredom tempered by sleep apnea.  Oh well hope you get some help and myself also.

sounds like you may have some sleep apnea,,,,  stay away from sugar and caffeine before bedtime.  Electronics also.  try and get a good nights sleep 6 to 8 hours is good.   If your still falling asleep during the day  you may need to have a sleep study done to see whey you so tried and can't stay awake.  it is better to find now and soon then regret it later.

I have this problem also lol but I notice it more if I'm watching TV or just reading some things online   I too think it may just be that I get bored but I do feel better after the "cat nap" :)

Maybe try vitamins. I agree with some of the others, it could be sleep apnea. My friend and my father have it. He sleeps with a machine now and he is 100 times better.

Could be narcolepsy  ask a doc. I also have the problem of falling asleep, during the day. Sometimes I'm not really sleeping when other times I'm out. Usually 20 or 30 m8nutes.  I'll start to watch  a show and  wake up just as its over. Sleep ok at nightm6 to 7 hours.  Other days  not really tired or no nap day. Can do more surveys or clean the house  well more surveys.
