CPAP Machine

Has anyone ever used a CPAP Machine? I have had so many problems with trying too get use too mine. I still cannot really sleep with it on and my nose and face is just hurting so bad from using it. I think I am going to be turning mine back in soon.

sounds like it doesn't fit you. My husband has one and suffers the same problems so it is now taking up space in a closet.

my husband uses one to he really likes it most of the time. if its not working then I suppose  to not use would be best. suppose to help in sleep not stop you from sleeping.

My husband has been using one for more than 5 years and loves it.  It took a while to get used to it but he stuck with it because sleep apnea was affecting his health. the face mask type was hard for him so he got the kind with just the hose in the nose and liked better.

I've used one for several years. It was a slight adjustment at first, but now I feel naked at night if I fall asleep without it. Talk to your doctor or supply company and see if you can try a few other mask options. It took me three trial runs to finally get one that worked best for me.


Sometimes I like to put my mask on and pretend that I am a jet fighter pilot taking part in a major airstrike. Of course this imaginary playtime is always accompanied with Kenny Loggins mood music in the background.

I have had three of them over the last 20 years and they just keep getting better. Now it's just like putting on a cap for me, no problem and it sure beats the alternative. I started wearing one after I was making a drive to see a customer and woke up with an airbag in my face to see them haul a poor lady off strapped to a backboard after I hit her dead center when she stopped for construction congestion.

Trust me, there is nothing so uncomfortable that I would not be able to get passed it to avoid that from ever happening again.

I'll take his!  My husband and I use them but can't afford new ones.  Ours are like 20 years old.

Are you fully aware that Sleep Apnea is a life threatening ailment and highly fit professional athletes have died in their sleep from it? That does not even consider the people that have had accidents harming themselves and others from the result of not being treated.

It's a shame that you can't invest more than 10 minutes to avoid such dire consequences.

My does not like those mask on her face either, they need to invest a more user friendly mask for the face...

I used a CPAP machine until it konked out on me.  Then I requested a tonsillectomy (at age 52) as a way of dealing with my obstructive sleep apnea. 

I also found that I breathe better when I sleep if I remember to take my super B complex each day.

Everybody I know who has ever tried using a CPAP machine stopped using it within two weeks because it was so uncomfortable to use. You are not alone with your frustrations.

Why would you turn it back in?  Did an actual doctor say you need it in order to not stop breathing in your sleep.  Cause breathing is kind of important.  You can get different masks.  Maybe you need to try a different mask.

I have never known anyone who just stopped using it after they were told they needed it.

Maybe that is why so many people just go to sleep while driving and kill innocent people.  They can't be bothered to be uncomfortable at night.  Maybe if you are diagnosed with sleep apnea and refuse to use he cpap you should auto lose your DL.

We were visiting with friends over the Fourth of July, and the man of the house said he sleeps with a CPAP machine and always gets the BEST night's sleep!!!!  He had no complaints.
