Warming Your Car Up

I warm my car up for about 10 minutes or so, depending on how cold it is.

Usually just a minute and just go. Especially when I'm running late. Just start and go.

    It is simply too risky if your car stalls in the middle of the highway.
    Make sure your car is "warm enough" to drive on a public street.
    Also warm up your car away from windows, so no one inhales the fumes.

Your car isn't going to stall because it is cold outside.

My pickup lives in the garage so I let it warm up about 30 seconds.  If it sits outside, maybe 5 minutes.

Usually a good 5 minutes, sometimes 10 depending on how cold.

I always warm mine up for 10-15 minutes before leaving the house. My car does not run very well in the cold so the warmer it is, the angrier it sounds. Plus, it always seems like it eats more gas when it's colder, but that could just be me.

Where I live we don't have to worry about warming the car more than a few mornings a year. Then we just warm it for a few minutes.

It depends on how cold it is, if my vehicle was in a garage or not and how much gas is in the tank at the time.  I try and keep my tank full in the winter to avoid that being a problem.  Lately I've only had to let it run 10 min or so... basically to defrost the windows...

I don't live somewhere cold enough to do that regularly, but it made me very nervous the few times I have. I'm afraid someone's going get in and steal the car while it's running, lol

I have lived somewhere in the past that required my car getting warmed up but that was years ago and my husband was disabled and didn't work so he went out and did it for me so I don't remember the time but I would say about 10 minutes on really cold days.

I don't warm my vehicle to "warm the vehicle".  If it is cold I let it run and turn the heat on so it is not freezing cold when I get in it and have to drive somewhere.  I do it for me not to benefit the car.

I never intentionally warm my car up. Only time it ever happens is if there is heavy frost or ice on the windows and I need to use the defrost setting on the heater to make my car visibly safe to drive.  Otherwise, I hop in at 10 below, start 'er up, and freeze on my way to work.  I live close enough to work that the three minute drive to get there is neither long enough to warm up the car, nor long enough for me to really be that cold for that long anyway - so why even bother wasting the gas to warm it?

It was usually not taking nearly 30 minutes, but it is also getting warmer in my area. Is it at least getting warmer in your area?
