Interesting topic.

here is my humble opinion

i believe there are some abilities (if i may call them that) that allow for people to see/visualize/know some things about the future, whether it be 1 minute or 1 day, because most of us have probably had some deja vu and premonitions that we can't explain (i know i have) so it only makes sense that there are so many people know it is a simple matter of permutations and mathematics. If we take 6-7 billion people, there will be a slim margin in almost every category that we can think of where a few will simply have a natural skill set for. Ie, nobel prize winners, michael jordan, etc etc.

SO after saying all that, my point is that there will be a select few that are really well versed at focusing on certain qualities that allow them to "see" a little bit more than the rest of us. How far that goes, i have no idea, but belief and focus are powerful traits and if cultivated would probably blow most of our socks off.

Notwithstanding, of course there are scammers and people that are delusional.

Nope, because if they are telling things that really will happen, chances are they harbor demon spirits. We are not to mess with black magic, no thanks, that is a portal, I don't want nothing to do with.

That's still not a fortune teller or psychic.  That's someone who can make educated guesses about what will happen based on your qualities or way of life.  They can be wrong, and they most likely will be if they were to make a prediction.  They're doing the same thing every other person of average intelligence can do in this world...making guesses about what will happen to them.

The future would have to be determined for any legitimate fortune teller/psychic to exist.  If you believe there are legitimate psychics out there, you believe the future is determined...in which case, it makes no difference if you know the future or not, as you can do nothing to change it.
Not really. You could just be very, very good at predicting the future.
Set in stone would only be required for absolute %100 accuracy.

But that is what a psychic or fortune teller claims to be, 100% accurate.  What is the point in calling yourself a psychic if you can be wrong about the future?  You're just a normal person if you can be wrong about your predictions.  Every person can make predictions about what will happen to them tomorrow.

But let's get to the point: Psychics don't exist.  And if they did, their abilities would be useless.  In order for someone to be considered a psychic, their predictions have to be 100% true, all the time.  If that is the case, then any future event they predict cannot be changed; if the event they predict can be changed, that means their prediction has room for being incorrect, and you can't be psychic if your predictions have room for error (you're just an average person making guesses at that point).  So knowing the future would be of no value to anyone.  You can't change it, you can't avoid it, you can't do anything about it.  It is already determined and nothing you say or do can change that.
That isn't true, everything is predetermined, anything that is going to happen a psychic can see. You have control over what you do but a psychic will know and probably before you. You cannot change the future, your hindsight is 20/20 so by seeing the future you can change the present to change the future and this is just hindsight from the future. You could change your future if you knew about it but those that don't believe will never get that rare opportunity. Remember everything is predetermined because you cannot change the way your mind works and what your mind will do and that is why God knows everything you will do before you do it and everything you will think before you think it because you are his design and that's it. Spritual people can receive this kind of knowledge as a gift. Psychics do exist and the mind being so closed is not a good thing.

Let's recap what your positions are:

First position: Everything is predetermined -- Fine position if that's what you think
Second position:  You cannot change the future -- Fine position and fits in well with the first position
Third position:  You can change your future if you know what the future holds -- Doesn't fit

Do you not see the obvious contradiction there?  If everything is predetermined, it is going to happen regardless of what you say or do; this is the definition of predetermined. If you have the ability to change future events, then the future is no longer considered predetermined; this goes directly against the definition of predetermined.  You can't have it both ways.

Now let's apply this to a psychic (or we can apply it to any omniscient [all knowing] being, but let's stay on topic).  You say the future is predetermined, and you say a psychic knows 100% what is going to happen in the future.  A psychic cannot be wrong about their predictions -- this is simply the definition of psychic.  What a psychic predicts MUST come true on all levels 100% of the time, or else they do not fit into the definition of a psychic.

If a psychic knows something, what use is it to them or anyone else?  If what they know, by definition, MUST come true then you can't do anything about it.  Nothing you say or do can change the future that they know -- if one has the ability to change the future they predict, then they're no longer a psychic.

I don't really care to get into the "omniscience/free will" debate in this thread.  It's not the subject of the thread.

As for having a closed mind, I am very open minded.  As you can clearly see, I've put thought into the logic behind a psychic or any omniscient being.  I don't say "psychics don't exist" on a whim. It is my conclusion based on my own thoughts, based on my experiences in reality, based on my rationale, based on the complete lack of any credible evidence that psychics exist, and so on.  If you have credible evidence proving otherwise, I'd love to see it.  Hell, let's make some:  Can you tell me one specific thing that is going to happen to me tomorrow, Sunday October 11, 2009?  I don't mean "you'll wake up," I mean something that is somewhat rare and can only be predicted by someone with "a gift."  Could you do that for me?

There's such a thing has having too open of a mind as well.  Some people's minds are so open that their brain falls out...

But that is what a psychic or fortune teller claims to be, 100% accurate.
No they don't. No one claims this.
Literally, no one.

Find me one.

Then who the hell cares if somebody says "I'm a psychic/fortune teller?"  If they're doing nothing but making educated guesses, why is that "a gift" and why does it matter?  Everybody can make educated guesses about what will happen in the future.  If their claims aren't full proof, who cares what their view of the future is?  They're just an average person's deductions at that point.

I went to 1 along time ago and was amazed by what he told me. He was 100% correct. I used a couple of different ones after him and everything they said was bull. As a whole, no I don't believe them but they've got to make a living too. They tell you what they think you want to hear. If anybody can prove me wrong on this one, I'd be happy to hear from you.

while there are a lot of people out there ready to rip you off ... like those who call themselves fortune tellers... there are those with elevated sensitivities who can experience more than the rest of us. we all have the ability, we just don't know how to tap into it. the non-believers will never even entertain this idea.
