I leave it out most of the time without a problem.  During the summer if it's really hot, I put the butter in the fridge.

It's always in the fridge. We just slice it with a knife. Don't want contamination.

Usually not, however I know grand parents had no problem never refrigerating it.  They never got sick either

    :in-love:        My parents would leave butter out most of the time as a kid. I now leave my butter in the fridge. If I'm baking something that needs soft butter, I now place that butter in the microwave for a short time to soften the butter.      :in-love:

I leave mine out all the time.  I use a butter ball.  Go on Amazon and check them out.  I love it and several of my friends use them.  We always have soft butter, check them out.

I  leave it out,  but only just a half stick at a time, and we use it up  quickly.  But I do  leave out stick to soften for cookies.  I have  found if you heat the  sugar or brown sugar slightly  and then  mix it in with the  butter it helps whip it up.

Yes, I have a butter dish and we have a stick of butter on it that we leave on the counter in the colder months.  In the summer time, we have to leave it in the refrigerator.
