Cheap Vacations
« on: February 20, 2019, 05:50:21 pm »
I need ideas for a cheap family vacation. I would like to take my vacation sometime in June so I need to start planning now so I can book things ahead of time before they get too expensive.

I agree with sbenkoski that in order for us to give some ideas for places to vacation for you some more information would be helpful.
Do you want to drive to your destination? fly? do you like camping?  Is the vacation for two or a family?  Age range/interests.

Cruise is so cheap especially you booked your ticket a year before.  Usually we booked in June and used it in February for both of us only $600 for 4 days , 3 nights.

The vacation is for a family of five. The kid's age range is 13 to 6 and I would drive.

Washington DC. A lot of free museums and zoo and enough history to keep you busy for days.

Staycations offer a frugal way to do a vacation. You save on plane tickets and different apparel based on the weather, ie going from cold to hot state and vice versa.

Find what National Parks, Monuments, historic areas are within your driving distance.  If you are into camping can stay at campgrounds or rent an rv for the trip.  Alot of it is planning but I know people who manage beach trips on the cheap.  So if you have some basic ideas of what you would like to do,  people may have good ideas on how to make that happen.

I would contact the commerce of your state to get and idea of some free things you can do at home that you may not have thought about.  you can do the same thing in other states also.

It depends how many people are in your family and how old they are.

If you have a motor vehicle, visit the National Parks or State Parks.
National Parks- You can buy a year pass
State Parks- Vary, depending on States
Always check NOAA, AccuWeather, The Weather Channel or local newspapers
    for local weather conditions.
You can sleep in your automobile, just carry enough survival gear: sleeping bags, food and fuel.

I get free hotel rooms to Vegas regularly in my email, but I don't know if that would be best for a family vacation.
