Let's try an experiment. I'm gonna ask a question. Let's see how many can figure out what I'm talking about by using simple logic:

Do you like Oranges or Dpples?

First person that says "What's a Dpple?" gets a Pincle thrown at them!

Google JediJohnnie and May the Force be with you!

Pens.  I'm addicted to purple so I love getting the ones filled with that color.

Mocking a person for their spelling is hateful, and says more about you than it does about them.

From the replies, most of us understood the question as written.

I use both pencils and pens.  I like pens better for most writing.

lol.  And making comments directed at others for their post, whether you mention by name or not because of their post, is just as bad.  And several have said the same thing.

I do not sit and try to figure out what people are "trying to say".  Spelling on a computer is beyond super easy.  It underlines the words that are spelling wrong in RED.

And I did not mock anyone  I simply asked a question.  What is a pencle.  Who knows.  Never heard of that before.

So you did recognize yourself.  Good deal.

lol I am not the only one who has made comments on people spelling words incorrectly.  Yes, I knew the jab was directed at me.  I really do not care.  Like I and others have said, it UNDERLINES the words in RED when they are spelled incorrectly.  Someone else pointed that out as well.  Actually there have been 3-4 who have said something along the same lines.

All I did was asked what is a pencle.  For all I know it is some new kind of ink pen like the gel pens.  If you want people to know what you are talking about then you need to spell your words correctly.  Otherwise you cannot get upset when someone asks what you are talking about.  Heck there is even this nifty thing known as "EDIT" where you can fix mistakes if you notice them after you post something.

Actually my comment was not directed at you specifically.

In fairness, the red underline doesn't always work/isn't always available. I know I've been the object of ridicule on this very forum for getting something misspelled because the 'red line' failed me. It happens.

I do not know about any one else but I did not ridicule anyone.  I simply asked a question.  What is a PINCLE?

That is not ridiculing anyone.  It is a question.  There are new writing utensils available every day.  Very well could be something new.  Kind of like the Gel Pens and some of those have odd names that refers specifically to a GEL PEN.

Pens, and I end up being picky about the pen.  I have to like the feel of it.  I will use a pencil for adding my checkbook or something similar.  I guess it goes back to being a kid and having to use pencils and not being allowed to use pens till you got to a certain age.  I do have a bottle of "white out" correction fluid handy!!! lol

Okay, first off I would have NO idea what a Dpple is?  I would probably ask you "what is a Dpple".  lol
If you can't handle that then it is probably best to not be on the internet at all. That is not ridiculing or attacking anyone.

There was a show that use to come on I think it was Melissa and Joey. And Melissa is explaining to Joey how the internet works.  Background info---

He makes a video on youtube and he is dull and boring and he gets close to no hits.  He cannot understand why.
So she says let me explain to you how the internet works....
   Here is a cat...click
   A video on blah blah...click
   Oh look a monkey...click
   Ohhh charlie bit my finger...click

In the end she gets him to say the same stuff, explaining business stuff, while he is working out.  He gets tons of views.

In other words people are not going to sit and try to figure out what you are trying to say. They will quickly read it and go on.  I have had multiple times some one replied to a topic I started and they clearly did not even read my post.  They just responded by what they thought I meant by reading the headline only.

There have been posts in here where almost everyone who responded was baffled by the misspelled words and non-comprehensible dribble that was posted. (Usually by a newbie that posts once or twice and you never see them in here again.)   No one had a clue.  And no one was going to sit and try to figure out what the poster meant.

We live in a world where people seem to think it is appropriate to abbreviate everything and in some cases that is fine, and that spelling, grammar, whatever does not count.  If you have or had ever worked on a job where you receive or review applications you would understand.  And going beyond just online forums if you fill out an application and it has misspelled words on it - yours goes to the bottom of the stack.

Then again, some people just do it for attention. lol

If I still had the emoji board I would give you a thumbs up right here. lol

Maybe I missed some comments.  I did not see where anybody had said anything bad.  Several people have asked the same question.

They actually do make a gel pencil and the OP could have been talking about something like that.  Thus the reason people were asking what the OP was talking about.

I think the point I'm trying to make with the 'experiment' is that the common person tends to be either overly sarcastic or intellectually lazy.

I'm sure some people understood what was trying to be communicated by 'pincle' and simply wanted to throw the easy "Zinger" at the poster (who most likely couldn't care less about this whole subject)

The other folks couldn't be bothered to take 10 seconds worth of elementary school 'Reading Comprehension' to figure it out. How long would it take? Let's find out.

The preceding word "Oranges" is spelled correctly, so we get the sense that the question will involve 'Fruit'. The next word is "OR" which suggests that it will be a choice between two items. Common sense suggests that the 2nd option will also be a fruit, as most choices have a level of equivalency.

The final word "Dpples"- having the hypothesis that the second option would be another fruit- can be compared to other fruits that are similarly spelled. Since "Apple" includes all the needed letters, save the first, we can rightly assume that the poster was intending to spell "Apple."

Now I realise that seems like a tall order for some. But Honestly, you don't make yourself look any smarter than the misspellin' poster in the first place, for bypassing an elementary school lesson by responding "Duh, what's a Dpple?"

You know some are better in sports then others. So in the case of writing and grammar thats true too.And i agree sometimes we are lazy. There are more things to get bent out of shape to.And sometimes we all just err.Nothing wrong with laughing at yourself either...its being humble which is a good trait to have.

I think of all the posts written in this topic i found fault with maybe 1 or 2 that i thought were mean....otherwise many just by-passed or could care less or went along with a humorous side to it.
