I always get back, last year we managed to get $2500 between both of them, this year I own the IRS $500 and state will give me back $25, it is absolutely ridiculous.  I knew that is was going to be less, the NEW TAX REFORM, was for benefiting the RICH and FAMOUS, not me the "Middle class".  But to own it is completely awful.  I have never in my life have had to pay anything to the government.  My very first tax filing it broke even, but the own!!  I own a house, pay Property taxes plus interest plus Mortgage Insurance, but that is all gone now.

IT IS AWFUL

You are wrong.  I am not rich at all and the tax cuts helped me.  My paycheck went up right after the tax cuts went in to place.  And you (if you have worked) have paid money to the government. It is taken out of your check every time you get a pay check. YOU owe a certain percentage of the money you earn. *I do not agree with taking part of my money I earn to give to lazy dead beats but that is how it works. And for the stupid that is not a Trump policy!  Anyway!  If you do not pay in the amount you are suppose to on the money you earn then you will pay it at the end of the year.  If you pay in more than you personally owe you will get money back.

It amazes me at how clueless people are and how many people do not have a clue at how this works.

You also need to learn how to fill out the with holding paper.  All you have to answer is how many dependents you are claiming.  For example if you are single you can claim 0 and then claim yourself at the end of the year and you will get a bigger refund.  OR you can claim 1 and then claim 1 at the end of the year and you will come closer to breaking even but you get a smaller refund.  You cannot answer the questions on the form because if you do then add those numbers up you will end up with like 7-9 dependents.

And this stuff IS taught in high school.  Use to employers would offer some help but I guess now they are afraid to because of the sue happy world we live in.  Well they told me to do this.  SMH

I did end up paying.  And I fully know why.  I was not cheated or ripped off.  I knew last fall I would probably end up having to pay.  People just want something to bellyache about.

I am married taking my deductions as a single 0, so is my husband.  I never said TRUMP's taxes, " I said new tax reform, was for benefiting the RICH and FAMOUS, not me the "Middle class" DO NOT PUT WORDS IN ME.  I do not have dependents, my daughters are grown up and I have not been able to claim them in years, and I never claim more than me or 0 on my deductions, so do not call me IGNORANT, I deduct what I am supposed to deduct.

What I said was that last year a got back $2500 this year I have to pay $500 because i cannot claim my house.  That is all, whether I like or dislike TRUMP, was not something I mentioned nor will discussed with anyone. So please do not put words in my mouth, besides the Tax Reform was approved by all of the politicians not just 1.

I haven't started our taxes yet.  I generally break even although I have extra withheld.  I always have to pay on my husband's SS disability since they don't take taxes out on it.  My income takes up to the 80% taxable bracket.  I have heard a lot of people grumbling about the "tax break" our pres gave everyone.  Most people don't make the big $$ to see the advantage of it.  I knew it wouldn't help me since I'm in the low-low middle income bracket.
Have a wonderful day!

The new tax reform disallowed many deductions the middle class was always allowed, so every one I know is getting less back or having to pay in.  However companies like NETFLIX do not have to pay any under the tax reform.  We ave in more debt than ever before as a country (22 trillion) because of the good breaks corporations and top 3 or 4 percent are getting. And has been found out over and over again, the money does not trickle down.

I don't have any earned income so I don't file

You have no income whatsoever?  Well besides what you are making online?
After a certain age you do not have to file income taxes unless you make a lot of money.  Majority of people over 65 if they are not still working full time do not file.  They live on their social security and other retirement accounts.  I prepare taxes and most people I have done are having to pay in or get less back because of the loss of personal deductions  under the tax reform, not how much was taken out of their checks.

Uh I did not put anything in you.  And I did not call you ignorant.  I said as for the ignorant. Meaning any person who is not smart enough to fill this very simple paper out. Most people are completely foolish when it comes to understanding taxes or how it works.

And FYI I have no problem saying that I support Trump.  If you had bothered to read what I said and not be so defensive....  Or if you have been living in this world for the past few months you would know that "Trump's Tax Hike/Cut whatever is a big phrase thrown around on line.

And I did not say you did not deduct what you are suppose to.  And btw you don't deduct anything.  The government does that.  You seem to have read what I wrote with the intent to fly back in rage.  I have been in the position where I hand the W4 to new employees and MOST of them are completely clueless.  They have NO idea how to fill that out.  Out like I said if you just go down answering the questions where it says enter 1 here enter 1 here and add those up a single person with no dependents will have like 7 as a total.

Do you not have the option to have taxes taken out of it? I know a woman who drew disability for years and she always got a huge amount of money at tax time.  She didn't get it back because she didn't pay it in.  And she also did not have kids she could claim.  I don't make big money and I saw an advantage. So did every other person whose pay check went up the next week for the same amount of hours.

Hmmm. I know several people who are well over 65 and they file income taxes.  I was not aware that after 65 you could just stop filing.  I actually had never heard that before.

Getting back just a teeny bit. But since I haven't worked since last May, I couldn't really expect much.

I'm thinking that it will take a long time to receive my refund because of the shut-down. :dontknow:
